中国国际医学研究会是由我国医学界纵多知名专家、学者及社会活动家和中国医学科学技术工作者自愿组成的学术性、公益性、非营利性的全国性医学学术研究团体，是联系医学工作者与政府职能部门的社会组织平台，是发展中国医学科学技术事业的重要社会力量。
中国国际医学研究会的宗旨：以加强中华医学研究，推动中华医学与国际医学间的医学技术交流与合作，团结、组织广大医学科学技术工作者，遵守国家相关法律和法规，贯彻国家科学技术工作和卫生工作方针为宗旨。充分利用现代信息技术，为社会公众提供有关医疗卫生领域的公益慈善服务；弘扬白求恩精神，开展与医药卫生及人民健康事业相关的各类公益活动；广泛动员社会力量关注弱势群体，扶持我国西部欠发达地区、老少偏多的贫穷地区医疗卫生机构的发展与构建，缩小农村与城市医疗卫生机构的差距；为提高我国广大人民群众的健康水平和发展我国医疗、医药卫生事业贡献力量。
中国国际医学研究会的主要业务为：开展中国与国际间医学学术技术的交流；开发中国医学与国际先进医学的相关项目合作；编辑出版医学、科普等各类期刊及音像制品；开展专科医师的培训和考核；发现、推荐和培养优秀医学科技人才；宣传、奖励医德高尚、业务精良的医务人员；承担政府委托职能及承办委托任务；促进医学科技与经济建设相结合，为会员和医学科技工作者服务，为人民健康服务，为社会主义现代化建设服务。开展与国际先进医学的交流与合作，帮助国内医务工作者学习掌握适用技术和国际先进的前沿医学信息。
中国国际医学研究会在理事会的领导下，自成立以来以研究国际先进医学、发展中华医学、促进医学学术交流、加强基层卫生事业发展、提高全民医疗水平等方面开展了大量工作，得到了社会各界广泛的认可和良好赞誉。
