一．形容词和副词的形式
形容词和副词有三种形式：原级、比较级、最高级。原级就是形容词和副词的原形，如long；比较级一般就是在原形之后加上er，如longer；最高级一般就是在原形之后加上est，如longest。二．形容词和副词比较级最高级的用法
1．形容词和副词的比较级用法：当两者进行比较时，形容词和副词要用比较级，也就是词尾-er形式。
比…更 比较级+than;和…一样 as…as;和…不一样/不如… not as/so…as = le than +原级
越来越 比较级+and+比较级/ more and more +原级 ；越…就越… the 比较级，the 比较级
2．形容词和副词的最高级用法：当三者或三者以上的人或事物进行比较时，形容词和副词要用最高级，也就是词尾-est形式，用在句中前加the，注意：形容词的最高级之前一定要加the ,但副词之前可以省略。如：Li Lei runs(the)fastest of the three。最高级之后常常用of ,in等短语来限定比较的范围，of后接人或事物，in后接地点。如：Li Lei is the tallest of all /in our cla.。
3.只能修饰原级的词
very, quite , so, too, enough ,pretty等如，He is very tired.他非常累。
可以修饰比较级的词
much, a lot, a little , a bit, even, still, far, some, any等。如，Leon One is much easier than Leon Two.第一课比第二课简单得多。三．形容词和副词的比较级级和最高级的变化规则
规则的：
1．一般在词尾加-er ,–est ,如：short—shorter—shortest slow—slower—slowest
quick—quicker –quickest
2．以不发音e 结尾的形容词和副词,在词尾加-r,–st ,如：nice—nicer –nicest
3．以辅音字母加y结尾的形容词、副词，变y为i，再加-er ,-est如：early—earlier—earliest
4．以辅元辅结尾的重读闭音节，双写末尾的辅音字母，再加-er,est,如：big—bigger—biggest（注：常用的有五个big fat hot thin red, 可以这样记：大胖子热瘦子是红色的）
5．多音节和部分双音节的形容词副词的比较级、最高级,在前面加-more,-most,如；beautiful—more beautiful—most beautiful 不规则的：
