小学英语教材《Succe With English》的五年级下册教材中出现了形容词及副词比较级和最高级的教学内容，这个内容是本册的一个教学重难点，很多同学在运用比较级与最高级往往把不住两者之间的基本特征而在练习时出错，现在从我比较级与最高级的构成规则及基本特征简要陈述，以让你有一个明确的认识。－、从概念上来认识
比较级是指两个人或物品在形状、功能、属性等方面进行程度上对比，以求得两者的差异。最高级是指三个或者三个以上的人或物品在形状、功能、属性等方面进行程度上对比，以求得程度上最高的一个。例（如图）
比较级：A sheep runs faster than a crocodile.（只有两种动物来对比谁快）最高级：But a horse runs fastest of the three.（这里的有three是指马、羊和鳄鱼，是三种动物在对比最快）
二、从构成规则上来区别
1、规则变化
（1）单音节词和少数双音节词，直接在词尾加-er来构成比较级，直接加est构成最高级。构成法： 原级

small －smaller － smallest（2）以一个辅音字母结尾的的重读闭音节单词（辅音＋元音＋辅音）双写结尾的辅音字母再加词尾-er，-est来构成比较级和最高级。

三、从特征上来认识
“比较级”和“最高级”可以简单的归纳为：
比较级是指动词（或是动词am/are /is）＋形容词或副词比较级＋than 最高级是指动词（或是动词am/are /is）＋the ＋形容词或副词比较级最高级 从上面图下的两个句子就可以看出。
四、从关键词来判断 一般来说，比较级的句子一般含有关键词than,而在最高级的句子中一般含有关键词the 或者of the。
