Distinguish guests, ladies and gentlemen, I feel humble to be asked to give this speech.I feel like I am bringing coats to new castle and present all these to the distinguish audience here.The eence of my speech today is this: never underestimate the power of the few committed people to change the world.If you remember nothing else, I hope you’ll never forget that all of you, everyone of you, can make a positive difference in this world.What’s more, if you act collectively with oher people, your influence will be that much greater.We need to make a difference because we face real and serious threat to our very survival.We know there is only one Earth, yet human beings reguse to respect that fact.We continuely abuse the ecology of the planet to the point that it is collapsing.At ground level, the Earth seems huge, indetructible, but beneath the surface of that beautiful blue ocean is deadlistation.Tons of fertilizers, pesticides, other chemicals and silt are poisoning and smearing marine creatures.In many places, the ocean flow is barren.We bottom-trolling has failed ancient coral forests and unique marine communities still unknown to science.Many spieces of fish and marine mammals, and birds are gone or rare.Ecologists worldwide are warning that we face ecological collapse in the oceans, and that means the collapse of fishing industry, too.Climate change is the direct consequence of a maive consumption of foil fuel: coal, gas and oil.Oil consumption has been so extravagent that we have a view of stop in just one century, around half of what the planet has to offer.When that halfway point known as Peak Oil is reached, it becomes physically impoible to increase production no matter how hard you pump it.When we reach the peak, demand will continue to rise, not just from western societies that we use the most of the oil so far, but also from countries such as China and India, trying to catch up with our level of modernization and industrialization.Imagine what would happen to the planet if the two billion people and those two countries squander results like we do, we can’t expect them to contain their consumption if we don’t reduce ours.Nature has its limits, and we are testing them to the breaking point.We are our own worst enermy.We think that technology can solve everything when it in fact many of our technologies such as genetic engineering, are part of the problem.We can’t beat nature, but we can work with it to live within income rather than depleting its capital.Instead of driving even faster as we get close to the cliff, it’s time to slow down.It’s time to be green instead of greedy.We need to change the way we live, to change the way we work, to change the way we do busine and to change the rules that governents make.That takes both personal and political will.绿色环保正当时

各位嘉宾，女士们，先生们，受邀在此演讲让我感到受宠若惊。我觉得我只是做了些锦上添花的工作，而在此我会向各位尊敬的观众进行展示。

我今天要讲的主要内容是：永远不要低估少数意志坚定者改变世界的力量。你们大可不记其他所有，但我希望你们永远不要忘的是，你们当中的每一个人都可以为这个世界做出积极的贡献。另外，如果大家一同行动，你的影响力将更为强大。

现在我们需要有所作为了，因为我们的生存正面临着真实而严重的威胁。我们知道地球只有一个，但人类却拒绝尊重这一事实。我们持续滥用着地球的生态，以致其濒临崩溃。

在近地面，地球看似巨大无比而坚不可摧，然而在那美丽的蓝色洋面之下却有着致命的危险。成吨的化肥、杀虫剂等化学药剂和残渣令海洋生物深受毒害和污化。在很多地方，洋流变得贫瘠。我们的深海拖网捕捞破坏了古老的珊瑚丛，还有独特的海洋生态群落，它们还尚未被科学发现。很多物种，包括鱼类、海洋哺乳动物和鸟类，不是灭绝就是濒危。全世界的生态学家都在发出警告，我们正面临海洋生态的崩溃，而这也意味着捕捞业的空前危机。

气候变化的直接原因就是大量的使用化石燃料，包括煤，天然气和石油。石油的消耗是多么奢侈以至于有观点认为在一个世纪内便会用尽，地球的供应量也仅是我们需求量的一半。如果这种被称为“石油峰值论”的设想成为现实，提高生产将成为物理上的不可能，无论你付出多大的努力。当我们达到这个峰值时，需求仍会持续增加，它不仅来自西方社会，虽然目前我们使用了大部分的石油，需求也同样会来自例如中国和印度这样的国家，他们正努力追赶我们的现代化和工业化水平。想象一下，如果这两个国家的二十亿人最后都像我们一样浪费，地球将变成什么样子？我们不能指望他们会控制消耗，而不先将我们自己的消耗降低。
