各位领导、各位来宾，女士们、先生们：晚上好！
在草长莺飞的春天，在繁荣发展的浙江，2006杭州世界休闲博览会和第八届中国杭州西湖博览会今天在这里拉开序幕。首先，请允许我代表中共浙江省委、省人大常委会、省政府、省政协，向远道而来的各位领导和贵宾表示最热烈的欢迎！向长期以来关心和支持浙江杭州经济社会发展的各位朋友表示最衷心的感谢！
(honorable leaders,)distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, Good evening, On this lively spring day and in the land of prosperous Zhejiang, the 2006 Hangzhou World Leisure Expo and 8th China Hangzhou West Lake Expo make their grand opening here today.First of all, please allow me, on behalf of CPC Zhejiang Committee, the Standing Committee of Zhejiang provincial People’s Congre, Zhejiang Government and Zhejiang CPPCC to extend our warmest welcome and sincere gratitude to all the distinguished guests(for their constantly support to Zhejiang’s and Hangzhou’s development)!浙江地处中国东部，历史悠久，文化灿烂，是中国古代文明的发祥地之一。改革开放以来，浙江凭借优越的区位条件、灵活的体制机制、多元化的经济结构、较高的开放程度和宽松的投资环境，发扬“自强不息、坚韧不拔、勇于创新、讲求实效”的浙江精神，走出了一条具有浙江特色的发展新路子，实现了从资源小省到文化大省、经济强省的历史性跨越。浙江已成为中国内地最具经济活力和发展潜力的省份之一。
Zhejiang is situated in Eastern China.It has a long history and brilliant culture and is known as one of the cradles of ancient Chinese civilization.Since the Reform and Opening to the outside world, by taking full advantage of its superior/convenient location, flexible system, diversified economic mix, relatively advanced opening market and favorable investment environment, Zhejiang has forged a new path of development with its own characteristics under the “Zhejiang Spirit” of unremitting self-improvement, perseverance, innovation and pragmatism.Having succeeded in the historical transformation from a resource dwarf to a cultural giant and economic power, it has already become one of the regions in China mainland with most dynamic economy and vastest potential for development.杭州位于京杭大运河南端，是浙江省省会城市。如诗如画的西湖山水，壮观天下的钱江大潮，使杭州成为国际著名的风景旅游城市。西湖孕育了杭州的精致和谐，钱塘江展示了杭州的大气开放。首届世界休闲博览会与第八届中国杭州西湖博览会同期举办。西湖品休闲，博览知世界。休博会以“休闲——改变人类生活”为主题，安排一系列会展、节庆、文化、体育、经贸、旅游等活动，展现人与自然的和谐相处，交流和传播休闲理念，推动和繁荣休闲产业，倡导健康的休闲方式，丰富人们的休闲体验，提高人们的生活品质，打造“山水浙江、诗画江南”和杭州“东方休闲之都”品牌。
Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang, lies at the Southern end of the famed Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.The picturesque West Lake scenery and the spectacular Qiantang River Tide make it a well-known international scenic attraction.The West Lake exhibits the City’s delicate beauty while the Qiantang River shows Hangzhou’s generosity and openne.The first World Leisure Expo and 8th West Lake Expo offer an opportunity for people to enjoy leisure at the Lake and gain knowledge of the world through expositions.Under the theme “leisure changes people’s life”, the World Leisure Expo presents a series of conference, festival, cultural activities, sports, economic, trade and tourism events to show the harmonious coexistence of Man and nature, spread the concepts of leisure, promote and prosper the leisure industry, advocate healthy way of enjoying leisure, enrich people’s leisure experience, improve people’s quality of life and build a “Picturesque Zhejiang and Poetic Southern China” and the reputation of Hangzhou as “the Oriental Leisure Metropolis”.一年一度的西博会是杭州发展会展业和招商引资的平台，精神文明建设的载体，老百姓和中外游客的节日。西博会已经成为杭州走向世界的重要平台，成为世界了解浙江杭州的重要“窗口”。
The annual West Lake Expo serves as platform both for Hangzhou’s convention and exhibition industry and for attracting busine and investment to the area.It is a medium of cultural and ideological progre and a festival for both local residence as well as domestic and international tourists.The West Lake Expo has evolved into an important platform for Hangzhou’s opening to the outside and conversely, a window for the outside world to know more about the city.女士们、先生们，今天，我们相聚在这座被马可〃波罗誉为“世界上最美丽华贵的天城”，共享休博和西博盛会！相信在不久的将来，杭州将更加美丽，浙江将更加富饶！
最后，预祝2006杭州世界休闲博览会和第八届中国杭州西湖博览会取得圆满成功！谢谢大家！
Ladies and gentlemen, today we gather together at the city described by Marco Polo as “the most beautiful and splendid city in the world” to celebrate the grand events of World Leisure Expo and West Lake Expo.We strongly believe that Hangzhou will be more beautiful and Zhejiang more prosperous in the near future!
In concluding, I wish Hangzhou World Leisure Expo and 8th West Lake Expo a complete succe!
