THE TOKYO TRIAL——THE HISTORY WHICH CAN’T BE FORGOTTEN Abstract: The Tokyo Trial records the judges from 11 countries(including Chinese judge)bring to trial the 28 Cla A War Criminals in the Japan international military tribunal for the far east.It tells us: don’t forget the history.Key Words: THE TOKYO TRIAL;FORGET;
After I watched the 《The Tokyo Trial》,my heart didn’t calm down for a long time.I believe that all the Chinese who have watched the movie are just like me that must be moved by the strong responsibility in the film.Something should not be forgotten, some history must be remembered.The movie tells us a little-known history 60 years ago—the international trials from May 3rd in 1946 to November 12th in 1948 for more than two years.It records the judges from 11 countries(including Chinese judge)bring to trial the 28 Cla A War Criminals in the Japan international military tribunal for the far east.At the begin, the film appears the history about the nanjing maacre with the black and white film, recording the trial , a broken Japan family and so on, trying to restore the proce of the Tokyo trials and real damage brought by the war for the Japanese.The ruins after the war in Japan make me so woeful that I can’t breath.In the film, the judge Mei ruao is a person who I admire very much.First of all, he
insisted that the judges’ seating arrangements must be ranked by the Japanese surrender with his steel in his spine.At last, he was succeful, and he said: I am not a fighter,I am a judge, a Chinese judge.The second thing he touched me was when the judges argued that whether the war criminals should be sentenced to death, Mr.Mei compared gla and water to the
existence and civilization of people, he fell the gla to persuade other judges to agree with the sentence.Finally, the result was that those war criminals received the due
punishment—the sentence.Mr.Mei won the justice for our country, and deserved the respect for his great courage and learning.There’s another people impreed me.He was a witne, and was also a Japanese
ex-serviceman.For his conscience, he stood in the court in order to expose the war criminals’ crime.We can image how much preure he suffered, but he sill did the right choose.He was a hero, because he dared to admit his mistakes.To the contrary, when the defense lawyer of Japanese war criminals had nothing to say when facing the hard evidence, unexpectedly, he roared to the Japanese ex-serviceman: Are you Japanese? I can’t help having a question—is a Japanese who can tell the truth to reveal their crimes not worthy to be a Japanese? Is to admit mistakes a difficult thing?
From the film, again I have to exclamation the militarist’s impudence.They made the war, invaded other countries, and also brought the disaster to their people.On one hand, the Japanese people were cheated by the government;on the other hand, they hated the war, the death of family and the failure of their country.Just because these various contradictions
intertwined, Fang Zi’ brother who had attended the war to invade China can not endure his conscience any more, shouting “Dog day Japanese” and committing hara-kiri.So the trial is even more important.Not only the Chinese should demand justice, but also the Japanese should receive a apology.Let’s talk about the most important part in the film—the trial proce.Bring to trial
should be a exciting thing, but the judge was so difficult.When the war criminals defendedtheir crime presumptuously, I was furious, all the Chinese people should be furious.Listen to this: They said they had never invaded China, and the war which they launched was just to defense their country, and warring to China for the love from elder, because the younger brother was not obedient, the elder had to give a leon to the younger.The trace of aggreion still existed, the damage brought by the war still made Chinese painful, how shamelely could they say such things.In fact, from the angle of film connoieurship,《The Tokyo Trial》is not a very good film for a variety of reasons.But the film has played a role that it makes us remember the history for ever.The judge Mei said: I’m not a revanchist, but forgetting the past sufferings may lead to the disaster in future.When talking about the Second World War, our mind always emerge the lens about the flames of war, but overlook the trial in Tokyo 61 years ago.Actually, the caution from the trial for two years and seven months is no le than that from any battle in the Second World War, especially for our Chinese people it’s a memorable history.We need a film like it to arouse our memory.Many people even don’t know this history, their poor knowledge about the Second World War shocks me deeply.For example, the
famous singer Yang chenglin, when the emcee asked her: How many years had the the War of Resistance against Japan lasted? Yang chenglin answered:11 years? After receiving the answer, she exclaimed: It’s only 8 years!When she knew that the Japanese army killed 30 million compatriots in the nanjing maacre, she pretended to be a surprise look and said: just 30
million? I just want to say I feel so shameful for her, she is not worthy to be a Chinese people.It’s only one example, I believe other similar examples are not a few.If the history can be forgotten, what will be left for people?
We can’t change the endle disaster and pain brought by the war, but we must not forget it.If we forget, what meaning does the suffering have? Bravery comes out of the feeling of shame.Remember the history, and treat the history as a mirror, we can improve ourselves.Forgetting the history is just betrayal.In the time, the market is glutted with the commercial films, but 《The Tokyo Trial》reminds us that don’t forget the national humiliation, it’s really rare.《The Tokyo Trial》deserves to be enjoyed, though it is not profound enough, but it is heavy enough.It reminds people—history can not be forgotten.Bibliography:
