About No.1 Middle School Of Xinyu Our school was founded in 1943,enjoying high reputation for its good school spirit, studying atmosphere, well-qualified teachers and high teaching quality.With its long history and colorful cultures, advanced education management ideas, and the remarkable teaching achievements, it has been highly thought of by the community, parents and students.Our school is the “excellent key middle school” in Jiangxi province won nearly 100 national and provincial honors--“ China's top 100 middle school” and “the National Olympic competition training base for middle school students ” are among them.In 2010 and 2011 for two years, we were succefully qualified into the“ Peking University middle school principal recommendation system”.The newly-built school occupies a total area of 200,000 square meters with a building area of 120,000 square meters.Every building has its own function, and the schoolyard is well designed, in which our students enjoy a green, elegant and agreeable studying environment.Four teaching buildings, two laboratory buildings with standard apparatus , the lecture hall, and the school library（which has a total collection of over 120,000 books.）as well as the music hall are scientifically connected to each other, with the dining hall and the student dormitories separately laid out.All the clarooms are equipped with advanced teaching facilities.Multimedia teaching equipment, cable TVs, and radios are also available.Besides,8 multi-media computer labs,3 multi-functional teaching rooms , an electronic reading room ,a TV studio and a language lab are functioning well in teaching activities.Sports facilities include an athletics track ring 400 meters, surrounded by bleachers that can accommodate more than 5000 people.We have a
standard-sized soccer field , 14 basketball courts, 5 volleyball courts ,6 badminton courts，28 ping-pong tables
and 2 tennis courts as well as a physical training room.At the same time，we have labor skills clarooms, art clarooms, music rooms, and dancing rooms.Our school has also set up a psychological consultation system with a special psychological-treatment room and several profeional counselors offering students
timely and neceary psychological help.At present, there are over 100 claes, 400 teachers and staff members and more than 8,000 students.According to the requirements of noble virtue of teachers, erudite scholarly attainments, advanced conception and masterly techniques, the school vigorously strengthens the training of staff members, and actively cultivates expert teachers, so the teachers’ abilities are improved to a higher level.Teachers with a bachelor degree account for 99.8 % of the staff.There are 3 teachers with special grade, 5 subject leaders and 32 teaching master hands at provincial level,7 municipal academic leaders,155 subject leaders and teaching master hands at city level.More than 40 teachers with graduate degrees , nearly 160 advanced teachers and 2 foreign teachers are engaged in teaching activities.To our credit, in recent years, many scores of the teachers have won the first prizes in all kinds of contests for top-quality leons at provincial and national level.The school education faces to all the students, insisting on putting teaching quality in the first place.With a rich accumulation of succeful experience in the past seventy years, the school enjoys extensive distinction and social recognition.Each year, a considerable proportion of graduates are admitted to first-cla universities,61 of whom are studying in or graduated from Tsinghua University and Beijing University, etc.Since1977, our school has achieved
succe in the entrance examination.2 were ranked in provincial No.1,51 were city No.1 and over 20 were placed as the top 10.From 2004-2012, 7380 students were enrolled to universities.Our school took the first place as to the number of those enrolled into key universities or other universities among all the key middle schools in the Xinyu city(each year taking up about half and reaching the total of the other three).To our delight, promising students are also shining together with their gold or silver medals won in various national and provincial Olympic contests of maths, physics, chemistry, biology and IT technology.From 2003-2011, 61 students won the first prizes, of whom 3 silver medals and 5 bronze medals at national level.As a result, the school was awarded by the provincial authority with many honors, such as “ No.1 in chemistry contest”, “ No.2 in physics contest”, “ No.3 in biology contest” and “ No.4 in maths contest”.Especially in maths Olympic contests, we made a historical breakthrough, winning 6 national first prizes and becoming the first to win the prize in the Xinyu city.In the last 2 years,15 students(18 in the city)have won the first prizes(Jiangxi division),ranking one of the top in Jiangxi province.In order to enhance the development of the school and provide a broader stage for the students, the school has become the student base for many first-cla universities, like Tsinghua university, Beijing university, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang university, Fudan university and University of Science and Technology of China, etc.These universities offer us favorable advantages
in the admiion.In the last 3 years, 5 students have been matriculated into Tsinghua university and Beijing university ahead of time as privilege students 3
free from taking the entrance examination and another 10 admitted into the two universities by paing the Independent University Entrance Examination.In total , 116 students have been enrolled into famous universities through the favorable policy.At the same time, the school and many national famous key middle schools and the authoritative education teaching consultation organization have long established close ties.And in 2009, it was formally accepted as “ Students base for American famous universities ”.We succefully held the new Oriental holiday camp by working with the China new Oriental Education and Technology Group.We have started an international UEI English program, in which two English experts are responsible for the teaching performance.We always stick to a down-to-death principle.“Be the top cla and strive for number 1”is our motto.We regard quality as basic.We focus on teaching and make every effort to improve.Aimed to be“the national modal school and the first-cla school”, all the teachers and the students endeavor to do what they can to build the school into a harmonious and advanced one with effective management, cultivated teachers and excellent all-around students.
