报告简要: Structural reliability theory has a significant impact on the development of modern design codes.Much of its succe could be attributed to the advent of the first-order reliability method(FORM)– which provides a practical scheme of computing small probabilities of failure at high dimensional space spanned by the random variables in the problem.It has been noted that this simple first-order theory fulfills most practical needs.Its numerical accuracy is usually more than sufficient.While the theoretical background underlying FORM has been developed about three decades ago, application of this useful technique to design remains limited in the general geotechnical engineering community.One main concern is that geotechnical engineers are not sufficiently well-versed in probability theory to model uncertainties realistically and to perform seemingly complex reliability computations correctly.The objective of this talk is to show that practical first-order reliability computations could be performed using a relatively painle spreadsheet approach.Using a reliability-based approach, a foundation could be designed more rationally to achieve a constant reliability level, under different scenarios involving different degree of parametric uncertainties and model uncertainties, correlation between soil parameters, and poibly non-normal probability distribution models.It is believed that our profeion would benefit from this approach because the geotechnical engineer can devote more attention to ground and construction evaluation, without having to agonize over how to choose the elusive factor of safety in a rational and defensible manner.专家介绍:方国光, 男,新加坡国立大学土木与环境工程系教授,岩土工程专家。新加坡国立大学软土工程中心主任、新加坡岩土工程协会主席。担任国际期刊Georisk主编及10个岩土工程领域国际主流学术期刊编委。在国际主流学术期刊及国际学术会议等发表了论文150 余篇,他的“Multiple Resistance Factor Design(MRFD)for Spread Foundations”获得了2005年度ASCE最高奖章Norman Medal殊荣,2006年度获得了ASTM最高技术奖项Hogentogler Award,2008年获得国际岩土力学计算方法与进展协会IACMAG杰出贡献奖,同年获得新加坡交通部颁发的研发创新奖。主办单位:建筑工程学院
