A Paradise We Nearly Forgot
------A reflection on Chicken Soup for the Nature Lover’s Soul
广州市第二中学 高一级 周婉姗
Living in a big city, I seldom have chance to experience nature. However, this increases my enthusiasm about nature.Reading the Chicken Soup for the Nature Lover’s Soul, I was spellbound by the wonderful nature. This book contains many stories which were written by different writers such as Terry Burke, Pathy Aubery, Maria Nickle. All these writers are famous in different fields. They expre their love for nature by writing these articles. They show us that nature presents itself in a variety of forms, and we can connect with its many wonders in myriad ways. From the scene to the very extreme, each story in this book is about that eential connection. In the writers’ eyes, nature has different emotion. Some think she is the source of exhilaration. Some consider that she is as affectionate as a gentle mother.Nature offers in comparable moments of serenity beauty and awe. While reading this book, I had a strong feeling of excitement of nature as if I had really been there.I could imagine that the green mountains, the clear sky and the birds’ songs were so special that I considered nature as one thing that could never fail to fascinate me.I love nature for the simple reason that she is always so real. She provides us a tranquil atmosphere where there is no hustle and bustle, no goip and hatred and no anxiety.Nature, just like our family members or our friends, is always close to us.We can fully pour our souls into its smell and its sound and appreciate its beautiful sceneries, which we have never seen in the city. There’s no secret between nature and us.Life there is simple and good, for all these nature lovers have one thing in common: they have learnt to respect nature.Sometimes nature seems mysterious to us, but we are seldom suspicious of her.Regarding nature as our friend, we have responsibility to keep the balance of her. While reading this book, I thought of my city.Long before the early 20th century,it wasn’t polluted, and city life was still natural. However, it has changed a lot in the past few decades. To develop economy, most of us ignore the environment. The river now is no longer clear and we can hardly find something not being polluted. That is because we didn’t respect nature and she treated us in the same way. However, if we got along well with her, we could enjoy a higher level of life today. No promise, no reward, only affection. To me, nature is a paradise. There we cheer, we laugh, we scream. No worry, no trouble, no sadne.Regardle of others, all things can be done with our little faith. As one of the writers put it, “You will do some foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm”.
