Three years ago, sanitation department officials installed Global Positioning Satellite equipment in the city’s street sweepers to track where the machines are at any goren time.But sanitation employees are concerned that city managers aren’t gelling the workers why the information is being gathered or how it’s used.“I don’t know what they’re looking for or what they’re tryig to find.” Says one unidentified sanitation worker.But qakland city council president says they’re just making sure the city gets the maximum bang for its buck.“I think it’s our responsibility to make sure that people are doing what whey’re supposed to be doing.” Says he.“And if people see it as a slap n the face, I don’t see it that way.I see it all of us have to perform for the pay that we get.”
