Good afternoon everyone: The title of my thesis is Experiment Research Of Cooperative Learning In English Teaching Among Hotel Service Major Secondary Vocational School Students.I choose this as my topic due to the following reasons.English teaching in the secondary vocational schools is far from satisfactory.Their English learning skills and interests are alarming.Because their poor English communication skill, weak learning motivation and strong anxiety in English learning claes.As the teacher working in the secondary vocational school have to research a suitable teaching method just for secondary vocational school students.Today, cooperative learning is very popular.Most of them have come to an agreement that cooperative leaning can noticeably reduce foreign language learners ‘anxiety while increase their motivation and self-confidence in foreign language learning.Meanwhile,most of the research took students in middle schools or colleges as their subjects, and got the succe.But, little of researcher has been devoted to secondary vocational school students,because of their unique features,they don’t have the learning motivation and interests to learn English.In the secondary vocational school, students suffer more from unhealthy affect during their English learning than regular students in colleges or middle schools.Thus,it is very important and more urgent for educators to work out an appropriate teaching method for them.
In this teaching research, the researcher chooses two parallel claes of hotel service major in the secondary vocational school.There are about more than 100 students participated(but only 78 valid)in the test.This research lasts 15 weeks, the researcher attempt to answer the following questions:
1)Can cooperative learning influence the English learning outcomes of hotel service major secondary vocational school students? And how? 2)Can cooperative learning influence the English learning affect of hotel service and management major secondary vocational school students? And how?
The outline of my paper is:
The first part begins with the latest findings of cooperative learning approach at home and abroad.Then, followed by the purpose and significance of the study.Part two introduce the definition of the cooperative learning then the basic elements of cooperative learning.In the third part the research questions are advanced, then the procedures of the experiment.The fourth part concerns itself with the analysis and discuion about the results of the experiment.All the data are from the pre-test and post-test.With the help of the statistical software SPSS 13.0 for windows.The paper ends with the fifth part, which contains the conclusions and limitations.The research results show that: The English claroom anxiety of hotel service major secondary vocational school students can be reduced by cooperative learning ,meanwhile increase their English learning motivation.
The English learning outcomes can be increased by cooperative learning of hotel service and management major secondary vocational school students.
The New Findings of my paper: 1).Teachers should according to the characteristics and learning contents learners to complete the preparatory work.According to the student ability, personality and social background of reasonable allocate, and then establish cooperative group.2)In the teaching proce, teachers should take proper form of activity.Such as speech, dialogue, group meeting, acting and so on.The purpose is to establish competition mechanism.3)Teacher should give the reasonable evaluation.The students of secondary vocational school care the evaluation extremely.So the teacher should give them equitable evaluation.
