书面表达通过要求学生写一篇100-150词左右的短文，考查学生的英语综全运用能力。从历年高考英语作文题看，书面表达一般都是指导性写作，按照试题所给的素材框架进行写作，需要考生适当发挥或适当增加细节。
写好一篇书面表达，考生必须要做到以下几点：
一、首句亮点化
Good beginning makes good ending.第一句写得好会给阅卷老师留下很好的印象。如果第一句出现错误，阅卷老师就会认为其他地方的错误必定不少。
一般来说，写好开头最简单也是最常用的方式－开门见山法，直截了当的提出你的看法，点出文章的中心思想。常见的开头写法有：

书面表达评分的新标准要求我们尽量使用高级词汇。高级词汇的选用不仅给人新颖的感觉，而且能使阅卷者对考生的英语功底有一定程度的了解。

词汇高级化也包括使用高级过渡语，现将高考书面表达中出现过的经典过渡例句总结如下：
1.表起始的过渡语： to begin with, according to, so far, as far as等
