This eay mainly analyses Dickens’s narrative style on A Tale of Two Cities.Dickens, generally considered the greatest of the Victorian period.A Tale of Two Cities(1859)appeared in the period when he achieved great popularity for his public readings.Dickens's works are characterized by an encyclopedic knowledge of London, pathos, a vein of the macabre, a pervasive spirit of benevolence and geniality, inexhaustible powers of character creation, an acute ear for characteristic speech, and a highly individual and inventive prose style.◆B.Organization of the Paper

This thesis consists of 3 chapters.In chapter I, the author present a brief introduction of Charles Dickens and his general writing style on A Tale of Two Cities.In chapter II, it consists of the specific techniques Dickens use and their definitions.In chapter III, it will introduce Dickens’s narrative style including 3 parts: flashbacks, detailed plot, repetition.At last, the author try to explore the literary technique of the ultimate master –Charles Dickens.●Chapter II.Critical Approaches
