How do you analyse the teaching aims of Unit 2?
In this unit,we will focus on the following aims:
1.learn about differences between American and British English
2.learn about communication skills
3.Use reported requests: He asked me to …
Use reported commands: She told me to …
4.Write a paage comparing American and British English
For the first aim,talk about English and its development.Teacher should explain the differences between British English and American English.such as:
Different pronounciation(same spelling):advertisement, laboratory, secretary, clerk.Different Spelling,(Same Pronunciation):colour-color, centre-center, cheque-check, tyre-tire.Different words(same meaning):
Britain English(aeroplane,angry,autumn,bill,biscuit,boot,car park)
American English(airplane,mad,fall,check,Cookie,trunk,parking lot)
Tell students, if they don't know the differences between BrE and AmE, they may make mistakes in the future and even cause trouble.For the second aim, we will deal with difficulties in language communication
To strengthen this part, teacher should train students:
Learn to make dialogue using request & commands
1.Learn to transfer from direct into indirect speech
2.Learn to give opinions and organize ideas by way of brainstorming
3.Learn to make a poster showing your ideas clearly
Different speaker may come from different place, so they may use different words and dialect, such as subway-underground、left-left-hand-side、two blocks two streets.Language and words target:
1.Make dialogues using request or command:
Pardon? Could you repeat that, please?
I beg your pardon? Can you speak more slowly, please?
I don’t understand.Sorry.I can’t follow you.Could you say that again, please? How do you spell it, please?
2.Four-skill words and phrases:

A, Let students get to know how to write a statement by using brainstorming
B.Try to use connecting words or sentences to make it as an eay or paage not just several sentences.(such as:I think, I believe, In my opinion… We learn English to do…)
For example:
Use the brainstorming way to ask students “Why should we live?” which is a simple question, at the same time there might be various answers to the question, which will stimulate their interest.
