My View on Cast Away

Cast Away is a terrific movie starred by Tom Hanks.It mainly tells a story occurring to the protagonist Chuck, a systematic engineer who is addicted to arrange time in perfect order engaged himself in FedEX’s intensive busine, encounters a horrible wreckage of aircraft by accident.He survives the catastrophe, which all the people believe is beyond the poibility, since then, his life is to be transformed totally.Cooped in an isolated small island, where both food and drink are in an embarraing circumstance hard to resolve, Chuck turns to Robinson in contemporary time, struggling with the changeable nature to land the slim chance to survive.During the miserable time, hazards, loneline, as well as hunger accompanying him, he experiences new perceptions he has never sensed before.And it makes a profound influence on him physically and mentally, when he returns to modern society, his new life begins.Focusing on the screen, as the plots progreing further and further, with the hope and the disappointment rising in turn, I am enthralled by the movie and appalled by Chuck’s incredible adventure.I do admire his intelligence as well as his strong will, from which I acquire some meaning over his succeful survival.From this point onward, I would like to analyze the factors involved in his succe.In terms of the objection, there are several favorable conditions to provide him with fundamental supports, such as a refuge-the cave-protecting him form rainstorm, a host of coconuts supplying him significant liquid and containers to keep fresh water, as well as the seafood like crabs instead of other poisonous creatures.Apart from these, the deliberate arrangement of some other indispensable things also emerge, a variety of packages, for instance.Likewise, the appearance of the cardboard that later made into a sail on his raft plays a eential role.However, Chucks tends to achieve nothing but from his persistence and intelligence.He is a real man with responsibility.He keeps his girlfriend’s photo cling to him, however the situation is unpredictable, with the hope that he can manage to meet her again.Though the despairs strike him consistently, he never really gives up, and grasps every chance to escape the trouble.With the development of the plot, he finds a volleyball among the parcels as his spiritual prop, naming it and communicating with it, so as to incentive him to insist.Just as the most American, he holds strong belief to encourage himself, what’s more, the powerful spirit to be undaunted by repeated setbacks.Additionally, his knowledge in wide range in deed do a maive favor to help him survive.A vast number of details witne it:

Devoid of watch and calendar, he should know to measure the angle the sun spotting into

the cave to figure out the approximate month and year;

Lacking in modern materials and facilities, he takes advantage of wood to make a fancy raft, and knows how to guide it into sea.Without ropes, he should try to utilize the rind of tree to braid them;

He is even skilled at both geography and mathematics, with which he tells the types of wind in certain season, and calculates the escaping direction draw on the information before the wreck;

Otherwise, he adopts the skating shoes as knives, cuts laces from dre as net to catch fish, washes his injuries in seawater to disinfect, imitates original humanity to produce fire and understand the principle to create the fire with air……

Everything thing he takes an advantage of is decisive to his final escapement, if he is devoid of these common sense, the techniques in wildlife, the capability to make a full use of each object, he can only to find himself in a desperate situation to survive.Meanwhile, I believe that the potential of the human race is highly likely to be waked up under the emergent and extreme circumstances.But the prior storage of knowledge is considerably eential.As the old saying goes, the good opportunity is for the prepared mind.If I were Chuck trapped in such situation, I indeed cannot imagine what I would do or could do, and death seems to be the absolute fate for me.It is really a pity, when I come to realize it.Though the three fundamental points are all the significant support for Chuck’s escapement, I still to emphasize the great willpower as the key element.Reviewing the movie, I remember two typical plots that indicate his strong will.The first one happened when he fell down from the plane into sea, during which he is intensively cling to the lifeboat folded as a package.Under the water, the intensive preure, as well as up and down with the turbulent waves, he should remain to stick to the lifeboat, grasping the rope in case of being cast away.The second occurs after his arrival at the isolated island, he marveling at the discovery of his company, but only to his dismay and sadne, the man has been dead.The stiff facial expreion, along with the pale skin, which makes him hold his breath, strike his at a sudden.Support that it is someone else with ill willpower who traps in such position, he extremely inclined to be freak out, straightly heading for hopelene.However, bearing the huge sorrow, he calms himself down, digs out a hole to burry the poor man’s body, and even graves a tombstone to remember him.During the proce, he checks his belongs, finding his sons’ photo which he has put it into the dead man’s pocket to company him, and the exquisite flashlight tied to his belt.The light from it really grant him hope, and sparing a bit sense of loneline, I think.Meanwhile, suffering the severe injury on his thigh owe to the damn reef, he does not let the hope slip, even when the injury turns to disgusting color due to the lack of medicine.Completely 4 years, he must struggle a lot, conflict a lot, but he hold on the belief for life.From the entire story, I am amazed at the potential power hid inside the human race, I also have to admire the great life instinct.Having talked so much on the content of movie, I want to transfer the topic to Tom Hanks acting the role of Chuck.Judging from a series of films starred by him, we can discern that he is one who actually has strength and holds power.He is a skilled actor, indeed, but also a kind man with respectable virtues, with which he tends to perform closely to his role.After a period study of watching foreign films, I can name several movies played by Tom Hanks,such as YOU’VE GOT MAIL, SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE.But I consider FORREST GUM as his masterpiece.He really tries a vast number of different roles, from succeful busineman to naïve fool, from amiable father to loyal lover, he contently keeping transferring.From this point, I do envy the occupation of actors or actre who poees a host of opportunities to try varied types of people, tasting different life from each angle.He wins his applause depending on his peculiarities, but not the handsome appearance like other shallow actors.People are enthralled by his vivid performance, since whatever the role is, once starred by him, they are prone to be unforgettable.Amiablene, humor, as well as wisdom are labels for his characters.Referring to the acting in CAST AWAY, Tom is also worth a complimentary word.Intending to ensure the reality of the movie, he did two totally opposite experiences---putting on the weight when he acted the engineer before the suffering, then losing the weight after the torment on the separated island.The dramatical contrast between two situations indicates his responsibility for his role, along with the paion he dedicating to the film career.What’s worth mentioning, too, is the scene when he grips the pack of lifeboat to protect himself to pushing away, in which the detail just demonstrates the repeated practices he has attempted.The strict attitude of him is tremendously showed among each detailed performance.No doubt that he stood at his peak by winning the Movie King of Oscar twice.All in all, though I have never written an English comment in such long size, particularly typing it word by word, but with this heavy work I have still to acknowledge the acquisition I gain from the whole proce.Not only do I grasp further in the containing information about the will power, the neceary knowledge to seek life, the significance of spiritual prop or belief, but also know more about Tom Hanks, including his works, the experiences, and the personality.From the movie, it simply enlightens me to treasure every second of time, to value each life, also to treat people around us amiably, to shoulder responsibility as well.I do not to pile up the fancy words, but the plain ones I have displayed here just the most distinct thoughts occurring to my mind.
