Vegetius said:” Let him who desires peace prepare for war.” That means, if you want to live peacefully, you must always be ready to fight a war.During the long long human history, there were only about 400 hundred years in which people enjoyed a peaceful life.I have to say, he is right, the war has a deep influence on the human history.Today, living peacefully without any life dangerous, many people are not aware of how bloody and cruel a war can be.It’s right that during a war, an ordinary person can have chance to be a hero, to change or create history;and a leader can gain much profit for his country or nation.But I want to say:” The people who want wars are the people who haven’t met a war.” Who are the people that have met wars? The president or the chairman? No, they just sit in the chair and listen to the brief report from the frontline.Then, the generals who lead the army to victory? No, maybe they are closer to the frontline, but the aren’t.The people who really have experienced a war are the soldiers and the citizens.Many old soldiers who lived through the world warⅡmade it clear that they do mi those days during which they fight with their brothers, but they don’t want to experience it again.Franklin D·Roosevelt once said:” More than an end to war, we want an end to the beginnings of all wars.” the world warⅡ is the war which takes the most lives in history, 55~60 million people died in this war, 130 million people got injured.Those are just who have scars on their bodies, I can’t imagine how many people got scars on their mind and souls.Still in world warⅡ, are the soldiers born to kill others ? No, if there hadn’t been a war, they could have been good sons, good grandsons, good boyfriends, good husbands…But the war did come, some soldiers became dead bodies, and some became heroes of their motherland.But who knows, in their enemy’s eyes, these “heroes” were all cruel devils.What made them to hate each other? what made them to be devils and killers? The war dose.We have already had too many wars, created too much hatred, we don’t need another war to bring more.Iraq, Afghanistan, and now, Libya, they are all horrible places, not only to local people, but also to rangers and marines.If the war lasts, the horror lasts, the hatred gains, there will be more wars.This is a mistake we have kept making for thousands of years.It’s time to correct it.At last, I want to say:” All wars are civil wars , because all men are brothers.”
