The story was happened in America in the middle of last century.At the time, American education still maintain the traditional stereotypes.High schools place undue emphasis on the college entrance rate.The Wilton School was one of this kind of schools.The new semester began with dull atmosphere and stale preaching.The big boys in Wilton felt depreed.However, everything was changed by a new teacher called John Keating.His anti-traditional teaching methods inspired the students' vigor gradually: In his claes, he introduced many thoughtful poetry and new ideas to the students;he encouraged students to stand on a desk, with a new perspective to observe the world around;he told his students to “seize the day”.These boys began to emancipate their minds, meanwhile they began to rebuild the “dead poets society”.Trouble and misfortune also followed in this quietly changes.Neil and his father had a fierce conflict because of his acting in a play of Shakespeare.Neil pursued to be an actor, while his father could not understand him and want him to be a doctor.Finally, Neil committed suicide to end his life.His death shocked the Wilton.Forced by public attention, the school began to investigate the causes of the suicide.The findings show that Keating should bear full responsibility and had to leave.When Keating went to say goodbye to his students, the boys stood on the desks one by one calling Keating “oh, captain, my captain”.With tears I finished watching the film.To be honest, it is one of the most wonderful films I have ever watched.I think that the respectful teacher, in fact, is the boys' captain in their whole life.His independent personality, sharp intelligence, pure soul, endle fighting spirit permeated through his whole teaching proce.It was with his inspiration, Neil really found himself.Although he took the extreme form in the end of his life, that is only a symbol of the defeat of his dream.From another angle, the death can be defined as a victory, a victory of unyielding resistance.Although his life was stopped, but he proved his rebellious spirit and perseverance for the dream.The film encouraged the American society to think of the education reform, when released in 1989.Similarly, it has the same effect in China.As far as I am concerned, letting students develop freely and be free to seek future should be the guidelines of our education.Wuhan University
