Comparison Between the Film and the BookIn the book , uncle Herry , aunt Em and Dorothy live in Kansas ,their life are very hard and the surroundings are bad.The people there never laugh and they will feel Dorothy very strange just because Dorothy's laughter.On the contrary , in the film , apart from the 3 people ,there are also Zake , Huke, Hickory , Mi Gulch and Profeor Marvel , 5 people appear in the Kansas.And I think all the 5 protagonists can be found in the Land of Munchkins and they are the Scarecrow , the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion.In the film , Dorthy's uncle and aunt have a farm that raise many kinds of animals.Their lives are not bad , moreover they have 3 aistants to help them do some farming works.There is a diension between Dorthy's familyand Mi Gulch because of the dog Toto.Just because of that Dorthy leave home then she meet the profeor Marvel.However , All these plots don't exist in the book.The same points are that Dorothy live with her uncle and aunt , their surroundings are gray , Dorthy is really blowed by a cyclone to the land of Munchkins where there are full
of witches.As her house drop down , the Wicked
Witches of the East is killed by her house.Dorthy is
welcomed by the witches in the land of Munchkins.The Witch of the North told Dorothy something about
their world and what happens to her.The little old
woman told Dorothy how to go back to her home and
help Dorothy think some methods to the city of
Emeralds where she can find the Great Witch to help
her go home.After that , she leave away to the City of
the Emeralds along the yellow bricks.Above , the
book and film are the same.In the film , the wicked witch of the East is left ruby
slippers but in the book is silver shoes.Besides she
wear the shoes when she leave the little old woman.The little old woman don't ki her to protect her.The
East Witch has a sister who is the wicked witch of the
West , she also is a bad witch.she leave the land of
East , go to a country where she is well entertained.In
that place she meet Bop , he also give her some
advise.Next , she meet the Scarecrow who tell
Dorothy some detail stories about his experience
including he would not feel tired , hungry and scares
fire besides what makes him in this situation having no brain.Later they meet the Tin woodman , he tell Dorothy and Scarecrow about his story which is very long and detailed including his past whole life and what he had experienced leading to his bad fortune.The surroundings are descried more detailed and lively.Above are different from the film , also there some plots which are not exist in the book , for example , the Wicked Witch of the West is always following Dorothy and making many troubles for her even hurts her.Before they meet Tin woodman , Dorothy and Scarecrow see some strange apple trees and have a conflict with them.One point is that the film simplify many plots just presents its roughly story.Others are the same , about Cowardly Loin story is almost similar to the book.The Scarecrow has no brain , the Tin Woodman who can not live without oil-can has no heart , they all have their wishes and hope the Great OZ can help them make dreams come true.So they go to the City of Emeralds with Dorothy.
