Good morning/afternoon, ladies and gentlemen(honorable judges)I’m contestant No.___.It’s my honor to present my speech here.Today my topic is “ Green Olympics and me ”.As we all know “ Green Olympics ” is one of the three themes of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.But someone said: Chinese people cannot make it come true.Therefore the Beijing government has made great efforts to protect the environment.But if only the government takes the action to realize the Green Olympics in 2008, it’s not enough.As a Chinese citizen, we should play an active role for Green Olympics.But what should I do for the Green Olympics? I think I should do it in two ways.First, Guangzhou is very important for the Beijing Olympic Games.As a resident in Guangzhou, I think the foremost thing is to let people fall in love with our city at the first sight and attract all the foreigners by ours unique image.Baiyun district is my hometown, a large area in Guangzhou.I was born in Baiyun, studied in Baiyun and is also working in Baiyun.Maybe I will spend my whole life in Baiyun.I love my hometown---Baiyun.Just a few years ago, we still saw some people spit and litter everywhere, talk loudly everywhere;some people not keep the public peace and order;some people not care about our environment.But now, looking at Baiyun, the graland is greener, the blue sky is more beautiful and cleaner;every little tree is growing happily in warm and gentle breeze.Looking at those lovely smiling faces, I’m

touched.This is my hometown---Baiyun, a beautiful place, an important part of Guangzhou, a great part in China.Second, as a teacher in a primary school, I think I should start it from myself, setting an example for my students.After two years teaching, I feel that we shouldn’t just tell our students what they should do and what they shouldn’t do, but we should do it from ourselves.Because the students will follow it after we do it.When you smile to them, they will smile to you;when you pick up the rubbish, they will pick up the rubbish;when you take care of the environment, they will take care of the environment.So how do I ask my dear students to support the Green Olympics? Just do it, do small things in our daily life.For instance, I water the flowers and young trees everyday;pick up the rubbish when I see it;form the habit to open the lights conveniently and conserve water in our daily life.In fact, green is really simple.Green is in flowers and trees;green is in sunshine and sky;green is also in our minds and smiles.If we start from every small thing around us, start from me, start from you, start from the people in Baiyun, in Guangzhou, in China.I believe the Green Olympics are not just a dream any more.The dream of Green Olympics will come true by our efforts.I believe the more efforts we make, the more succeful Green Olympics will be.Let’s all wish the best for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.Thank you for listening.
