I think Don Quixote is both ridiculous and lamentable.On the one hand, he was so absorbed in his imaginary world of chivalry that he became mad and thought he was a knight undubbed.We can see that he has lost his mind from the event in the material such as he took the windmills for monstrous giants and took the two flocks of sheep for two armies fighting against each other.He would not listen to any of Sancho’s persuasion.In other people’s eyes, he was just a mad man and his behaviors were so ridiculous.On the other hand, he was lamentable.Though he behaved so ridiculously and madly, he was rational sometimes.We can see this from his words: “Bear in mind, Sancho, that one man is no more than another,unle he does more than another;all these tempests that fall upon us are signs that fair weather is coming shortly, and that things will go well with us, for it is impoible for good or evil to last for ever”.He really seemed like a philosopher.To some extent, he was noble.He had a spiritual world inside him.He held on to his ideal though other people could not understand him.We can see that even Sancho did not understand him because he tried to persuade Don Quixote to go back home.In my opinion, Don Quixote is already a real knight spiritually.
