Walden

I have been reading Walden recently.It is a claic collection of proses.The writer, Henry David Thoreau, born in Concord, Maachusetts in 1817, is internationally famous for his clear elegant proses.Thoreau, H.D lived alone in a house he had built himself on the shore of Walden Pond and earned his living by the labor of his own hands.He lived there two years and two months.And Walden was finished during these days.Walden is a book of prose with no particular plots.If to say so, it consists of paages describing his life, such as building a house in the woods, working in the bean-field or fishing on a sunny morning.These odds and ends, as they were, lead us into a simple but meaningful world.What is the meaning of life? How should we get along with the creatures in nature? I keep thinking about these questions.Long long ago, people lived in harmony with the nature, but then greed drive us to break the peace.We rule the world in our own ways.Then, what happens? Lots of lakes disappear, woods are miing, sea creatures decrease sharply and animals are put into the so-called zoos, all of which are against the laws of nature.However, we do not feel happy at all.when we look at the sea, what we see is floating garbage instead of clear seawater;when we look up to the sky, what we see are gray clouds instead of pure white;when we come to the country, what we find is serious pollution instead of expected

peace;when we go to the street, what we find is the annoying traffic jam instead of pleasant convenience.I can never find the charming, dreamlike scenery described by Thoreau,H.D “there was eternal spring, and placid zephyrs with warm blasts soothed the flowers born without seed.” But could not our life have a change? Yes, of course.Be friendly to our nature and obey the nature laws.Do not get me wrong, I am not saying we should go back to growing our own vegetables or building our own houses, what I want to propose is that we’d better live a more peaceful life and enjoy the nature.As is known to all, environment is to the earth what health is to the person.I believe that more harmonious society will be found as long as we make friends with the nature.
