The Most Precious Gift
As usual, Dana was wake up by the clock.He didn’t realize that his old brotherDickwas on a busine trip until he saw the other bed was empty.Before long, the phone rang.It was his brother who made the call.Today was Dana’s twentieth birthday.It’s really a pity for Dick that he couldn’t spend it with his brother.However, there was also a good news that he could go back home tonight.“Happy birthday!”
“Thanks, brother, when will you come back home?”
“Tonight.”
“Great, I’ll wait you for dinner.”
“All right.Never forget the medicine.”
…….Dana had a serious heart disease and he needed a heart transportation operation.Now he was waiting for a new heart and he had been doing it for three years.Dick was his only family.Due to the illne of Dana, Dick had always been working hard and both of them had signed a contract that they would donate all organs after the death.In the afternoon, lying on the bed, Dana was waiting Dick to come back home.Suddenly, the phone rang again.He thought maybe it was from Dick.So he pick up the phone as soon as poible.When he heard the voice from the phone, he was a little disappointed.The one who was speaking was a girl.But ,the moment he got the new, he was wild with joy, that the call was from hospital and there was a heart available for him.It meant that he would never suffer from the disease.After dropping the phone, he called his brother right now and he wanted to share this good news with his brother.However Dick’s cell phone was not on the service.Then Dana sent him a meage, “Dear brother, I have got a most precious birthday gift.I have got a new heart.”
After the ambulance arriving, Dana went to hospital with the help of medical staff.Before long,Dana ‘s friends arrived as well.With the accompany of his friends, Dana finished his operation succefully.Everything seemed to be good except that Dick was not with him.Dana recovered well.Two weeks later, he came back home.It were his friends as well who accompanied him.There was not Dick.Dick could never come back home but his heart did.In fact, there was a traffic accident happened to Dick when he was on the way home and he was dead on the spot.According to the contract he signed during his lifetime, his heart was donated.And it was Dana’s turn to accept the donation.When Dana knew the fact, he was distraught.Then he said, ”It is the most precious birthday gift I have ever received.”
