Wuthering Heights is a novel by , written between October 1845 and June 1846,[1] and published in 1847 under the pseudonym Ellis Bell.It was her first and only published novel: she died aged 30 the following year.The decision to publish came after the succe of her sister Charlotte's novel, Jane Eyre.After Emily's death, Charlotte edited the manuscript of Wuthering Heights, and arranged for the edited version to be published as a posthumous second edition in 1850.[2]
Wuthering Heights is a story of love and revenge.The story is about 30 years of time span, described the emotional entanglements of two generations of the Earnshaw and Linton.Housekeeper, Nelly Dean told the story: master of Wuthering Heights, Mr.Earnshaw brought back an unidentified child and named Heathcliff who gained the favor of Mr.Earnshaw and that aroused Hindley’s(Mr.Earnshaw’s son)intense jealousy.When Mr.Earnshaw death.Hindley treated Heathcliff as a servant, and all sorts of persecution, but Catherine was close with him in their childhood, and they fell in love with each other.Later, Catherine is forced to marry a gentleman, Edgar Linton who lived in the Thrushcro Grange.Heathcliff left with distraught and returned wealthy after three years.Catherine has married Edgar, but not happy.Heathcliff was crazy to retaliated Hindley who was addicted to drink after his wife’s death and then died soon, his son Hareton became an orphan and raised by Heathcliff as slave.Heathcliff also deliberately marries Edgar’s sister Isabella for retaliation.And then Catherine was dead with grasped and held Heathcliff tightly.Ten years later, Heathcliff cheated and illegal custody Edgar’s daughter young Catherine, and forced her married to his dying son Linton.Edgar and young Linton died soon.Heathcliff final appropriated Edgar’s family property.His revenge was succe, but he could not free from the dead Catherine’s love.Later, he died in her endle love.Young Catherine and Hareton inherited Wuthering Heights and Thrushcro Grange;they finally fell in love and lived in Thrushcro Grange happily.Seen the loves in Wuthering Heights, we can see that the fanatical love is the devil.It can bring pain and tragedy.There is also true love in our real life, we must learn to sensible with love and never made a mistake because of fanaticism and regret it for life.Every man is the architect of his own fortune.We should find right way to go.Only in this way can we have a bright future.
