Inner Beauty is the Real Beauty

Referring to beauty, people always match it with women and its meaning is restricted to describe the outward beauty.According to Susan Sontag’s Beauty, we learned that it is wrong to aociate beauty with women, and by this means, it will damage women as well as the notion of beauty.This is proved in lots of ways.In ancient China, foot binding was considered a criterion of beauty.As a result, almost all the women at that time bound their feet painfully.For women who did not, they were mocked.That those ancient English closely resembled ancient Chinese, women were corset to show their beauty.Both feet binding and corset to the detriment of women’s health.Further more, they shackled the women’s spirit.The reason why women mutilated themselves in theses ways is to please and adapt to men.These criteria twisted the real meaning of beauty.Therefore, these two erroneous views need to be rectified on the aement of beauty.On the one hand, beauty is not necearily connected with women.Susan Sontag attacked the viewpoint that beauty is regarded as a form of power for which only women are encouraged to seek.While to men, “it is not the power to do that but the power to attract”.People are all sink into the severe social sex bias.Men are always taken in as a whole, and beauty is the very last thing to be measured.The opposite happens when we look at women.Moreover, it is women who are taught to scrutinize their body in parts.Little wonder that nowadays, many a woman are crazy on plastic surgeries and breast augmentation surgery which will take a heavy toll on them.All these tries confirm the power of beauty on women.Further to say that they are the

depreciation of the notion of beauty.I believe that until someday beauty is not limited on the description of women merely will it back to its real and impartial implication.On the other hand, in reference to beauty, inner beauty ought to come first rather the outward beauty.There is no doubt that we are amused by fancy clothes, gorgeous appearance, and the magnificent mountains and sea.Whereas all these things are external, clothes will be out fashioned, the beautiful appearance will fade and even the mountains and sea will lose their original looks with time goes by.(Li Hanlong, Yan Guangshi, 2005)To a larger scope that both men and women are concerned, what makes real beauty is the internal of a person.It is harmful to one-sidedly stre the beauty in appearance, figure and young in age.(RenYiming, 2005)From this point of view, not only the notion of beauty is twisted, but also people’s intelligence is limited in the pursuit of fashion, enjoyment and other shallow respects alike.Susan Sontag wrote in Beauty, “It is not, of course, the desire to be beautiful that is wrong but the obligation to be or to try.” All the practice teaches us that there is no problem with the desire to be beautiful, and the problem is that whether the value of beauty is just limited in that.From another perspective, you might admire someone on how beautiful he/she looks, but, what if that person turns out to be arrogant, and of low characteristics.Just as a saying by Rabindranath Tagore “You from the outside of beauty to comment on a flower or a butterfly, but you can not do this to comment on a person.” Appearance could be deceptive, and it cannot interpret beauty in an objective manner.What makes real beauty is far more than the outward.Shakespeare said that the hand that hath made you fair hath made you good: the

goodne that is cheap in beauty makes beauty brief in goodne;but grace, being the soul of your complexion, shall keep the body of it ever fair.That is to say inner beauty is the real beauty and shall remain.Nobody who has read Notre Dame de Paris was not shocked by the bellman Garcia Modoo because of the goodne of his heart, despite that he is extremely ugly in outward.As Belinsky’s proverb goes real beauty comes from the depth of the soul.What we can deduce from it is that inner beauty is the real beauty.Ren yiming mentioned in his eay that in forms of independence, confidence, characteristics, pursuit, and creativity that beauty was interpreted in real sense.In terms of current social situation, I conceive real beauty in the following aspects:

 real beauty is knowledgeable. real beauty rests in the noble value. real beauty is manifested in the excellence such as honesty, endurance,self-respect, self-reliance, self-confidence, and self-development and so forth. real beauty is reflected by ideal and ambition.If a person is equipped with those qualities no matter how he or she looks, he or she truly deserves to be appreciated as beauty.As contemporary people, we ought to be clear of the authentic implication of beauty.Beauty has no occasion to be used for women only.And it is out of politene, and respect to others that we make ourselves dre up and seem neat and refresh, in stead of pleasing and adapting to them.(RenYiming, 2005)Anyhow, outward beauty fades with time, and it is the self-promotion of culture tastes, spiritual realm,independence, and capability that counts.To sum up, inner beauty is the real beauty and eternal beauty.References:
