The claroom was very quiet.Nothing except the scratching sounds of the pens on the course surface of the writing papers and the occasional flipping of the question papers were heard.Everyone was doing their work in full concentration and the overall atmosphere appeared rather tensed.This was because we were having our year-end English language exam.Being very strong in English, I did not have much problem handling most of the questions.I was very confident of what I was doing and was absolutely sure that I would top the cla like all the other years.Within the next thirty minutes or so, I finished the paper.In fact, I was the first to complete the paper.Feeling bored, I decided to look around the cla to kill time.While others were seriously working on the questions, Mi Lee was busy reading a novel.She was not paying any attention on the students.At that moment, I saw Jimmy who sat next to me fidgeting and looking at me.Noticing that I had finally paid attention to him, he pointed to his paper on the table and said “Give me the answers” softly.Suddenly I remembered that I had promised Jimmy that I would help him.In fact, he came to me the day before the English language exam and had implored to me to give him the answers.Since we were good friends, I agreed.Recalling this, I started copying the answers on a small piece of paper.Since we could not bring extra papers to the examination room, I tore a small piece from the corner of my question paper to write the answer.After copying, I dropped my pencil case to draw Jimmy’s attention.The sound was louder than I had expected;hence, it attracted other students’ attentions as well.Luckily, Mi Lee did not notice it and kept on reading her book.I picked up my pencil case and at that instant, Jimmy looked at my direction.He looked a little anxious so I lifted the tiny answer sheet and smiled at him to make him relax.Then I rolled the paper into a small ball.As I was about to throw the paper ball acro the aisle, something strange happened;Jimmy quickly turned his head to the front.At that instant, I turned my head to see what had happened and saw Mi Lee standing just beside me.I had no idea how she had managed to walk to my desk so quietly.I knew, then, I was in big trouble for the paper ball was still in my hand and it was too late to hide it from her sight.“What is that? Give it to me,” Mi Lee demanded.She succefully drew the attention of all the students in the claroom.At that point, I only wished that the ground would crack open and swallow me up.The teacher grabbed the paper and looked at it.“You want to cheat in the exam?” Mi Lee looked at me angrily.“No, it is not me!It is Jimmy.He wanted me to write down my answers and pa the paper to him.I am innocent!”I tried to explain.“Stop talking nonsense.I never asked you to give the answers to me.Do not drag me into the picture!” Jimmy responded.I was shocked at what my good friend had said.His words stung me and I could not say anything against him.I felt betrayed.“You would get a zero for this English language paper and I am going to talk to the principal about it,” Mi Lee warned.However, I could not hear nor understand a word of what she said.I just kept staring at Jimmy.Feeling humiliated, I quietly followed Mi Lee to the principal’s office.
