Looking Back the Past and Looking to the Future
It‟s December 31, 2011, last day of the year.Hours away, we will say farewell to 2011 and embrace the coming of 2012.Reviewing the past year, I witne many turns and twists in terms of my personal mood, inner world, job, or world economy, world politics, etc.How to begin is hard.Everything has both good and bad sides.Coming here to work challenges my patience and my ability to endure the loneline.Being a responsible father and husband, I worry and mi my baby daughter and wife every single moment because it‟s been the first time I am apart from my beloved ones for such a long time since my baby was born.Therefore, you are my real concerns.I remember my tears welled down on my cheeks the moment I saw you and my baby daughter in the webcam.However, you, my dear wife, are truly strong emotionally even if you are exhausted physically.You are far better than I expected.Of course, what you suffer is much more than I do.I‟ve been grateful for your great sacrifice.But, at the meantime, thanks to the chance to be here, I can renew my habit of reading English in the morning.Owing to getting busy with work and other trifles, I almost quit English-reading habit in the previous years.During the past year, I frequently remind myself to keep reading in order to better and perfect my own pronunciation, intonation and oral English as well.What matters is I notice the way I speak is far from the standard one.And more importantly, I am inspired by the English native speakers to adjust my manner and place of articulation.Due to the free time I‟ve got here, I can bury myself in study of the way native speakers speak.A year has paed.After the hard work, my way of utterance is almost settled.This is what I achieve most in the past year.I can‟t say I am fruitful, but I now restore my confidence as I did years ago.I seem to be clear about my way ahead of me.I‟m grateful to you, my honey, and the chance given to me.I hope to be a completely fresh „I ‟ when I am back home 11 months later.Adhering to propagate Chinese language and culture, I try my best to do my own work well.In the cla, I am enthusiastic and paionate, making weird Chinese pinyin acceptable and obscure Chinese language interesting.And my teaching method is popular with the students, which motivates me to work harder.I don‟t know what the outcome is, but I think, so far, what I sacrifice is worthwhile.However, in 2011, everything changes.Many happenings take place.“Arab Spring” spreads to many countries, in which several regimes collapse.These lead to not only politically unstable, but also thousands of deaths of protesters and economic receion.Tsunami in Japan, speed train collision in China, money-running-out counties in Europe, general election protests in Africa, etc claim thousands of thousands of lives, make countle people homele and joble.The year 2011 is full of disasters and catastrophes throughout the world, which people can‟t bear to think of.2012 is around the corner.Let‟s forget the unhappy past, the pain and grief, the sacrifice, and look to the bright future.Hopefully, in 2012, everything will be better.My adorable daughter is one year older and knows more.My beloved wife will be fine with everything.And I will be healthy and happy every day.Most excitingly, I am looking forward to the family reunion in next November.Best wishes to all my friends, my relatives and my beloved ones！!
