The lady of the Camelliasis a novel by AlexandreDumasfils, aFrench novelist and dramatist of nineteenthcentury.At that time, Paris is filled with uproar, anxiety and indifference.The story is set in Paris during the mid-1800.The work tells a story that a beautiful young girl is trampled to death.Marguerite Gautier, a beautiful country girl,came to Paris to makea living.Unfortunately, she is seduced to be a prostitute.Then,because of the environment, she gets ill.Later, she meets a young middle cla lover Amend Dural.When the lovers are looking forward to the bright future, Amend’s father, a sham and selfish man, forced Marguerite to leave Amend.But Amend doesn’t know the truth.He hates her to change heart for vanity.Then they are not together.Marguerite bears all the sufferings on her own.At last, she dies pennile, painfully and lonely---cast off by all the men that played with her.Amend is given Marguerite’s diary in which he finally learns of her illne and undying love for him.I have a double feeling to Amend.On the one hand, I feel sad about him.His vanity and suspicion kill the love of Marguerite.He doesn’tbelieve that a street girl has the genuine love.So when he wins Marguerite, he begins to distrust and breaks with her.I believe, in Amend’s heart, the vanity of wining the Parisloretteisis muchmore important than her love.A man, who doesn’t know how to love and what love is, shouldn’t deserve her love.Otherwise,he should be forgiven.He has conscience, for his feeling of guilty and sad when he realizes Marguerite’s love for him.He is blame to her death, but the society should be blame to more.
