In recent years, more and more college students are inclined to take part-time jobs in their spare time and such a phenomenon has caused numerous heated debates among the people around us.Some support it while others are against it.From my standpoint, taking part-time jobs has advantages as well as disadvantages.Taking part-time jobs helps students a lot.First, it helps them to ease the family’s financial burden.By doing part-time jobs, students can earn some money.With the money they earned, they can pay for their daily neceities and even a part of tuition, especially for those who come from poor-stricken family, which is one of the good ways to solve some financial problems for their parents.Second, students can gain more experiences and skills when doing part-time jobs.With part-time jobs, college students manage to have the opportunity to put what they have learned from their books into use, which has its beneficial effect on improving their working skills.They also will know how to cooperate with others and how to deal with the problems they may face in future by working with others in a new environment.On the contrary, doing part-time jobs can also do harm to students.It affects students’ studies.Because of doing part-time jobs costs too much time which originally be spent on study, students do not have enough time to concentrate on learning.Therefore, their academic performance is tremendously affected.For instance, it maybe has a negative influence on students’ mental health.Putting themselves into unfamiliar environment and dealing with different people, they are easily affected by bad social atmosphere and also will feel exhausted after working, both are not good for students’healthy development.As I mentioned, there is no doubt that doing part-time jobs has its advantages as well as disadvantages, so, college students should be careful when they decide whether to take a part-time job or not.Personally, the most important for them to do is to balance the two aspects and give the priority to study if the two contradict each other.
