Mojo and Weeza and the Funny Thing 《毛九和维扎，还有一个奇怪的东西》

Mojo and Weeza found a funny thing.毛九和维扎发现了一个奇怪的东西。

（Mojo，[‘məʊdʒəʊ]，原意为魔力、符咒；这里是其中一只猴子的名字）

Mojo said, “I know what it is!

It’s a boat.”

毛九说，“我知道这是什么！这是一艘船。”

But the boat didn’t float.但是，这艘船却漂不起来。（float，[fləʊt]，漂浮）

Weeza said, “I know what it is!

It’s a rocket.”

维扎说，“我知道这是什么！这是一颗火箭。”（rocket，[‘rɒkɪt]，火箭）

They counted …10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1…

BLAST OFF!

（于是）它们开始倒计时（数数）…10…9…8…7…6…5…4…3…2…1…

起飞！

（blast，[blɑːst]，爆炸，爆破；狂欢）

（blast off，指火箭发火起飞）

But the rocket didn’t take off.但是，这颗火箭并没有起飞。（take off，飞机起飞）

Mojo said, “I know what it is!

It’s a parachute.”

毛九说，“我知道这是什么！

这是一具降落伞。”（parachute，[‘pærə.ʃuːt]，降落伞）

He climbed up a tree and jumped.But the parachute didn’t work.（于是）它爬上一棵树，并跳了下来。但是，这一具降落伞并没有打开。

Wheeze said, “I know what it is!

It’s a tent.”

He lay down under it,but the funny thing was too small.维扎说，“我知道这是什么了！这是一顶帐篷。”

它躺在（这个有意思的东西）下面。但是，这个奇怪的东西太小了。（tent，[tent]，帐篷）

Then it started raining and that was when Mojo said, “I KNOW WHAT IT IS!”

然后，天开始下雨了，也就是在这个时候，毛九说，“我知道这是什么了！”

Mojo turned the funny thing

around and it filled with rain.Then he got in.Mojo said, “It’s a bath.”

毛九将这个奇怪的东西翻转过来，盛满了雨水。然后，它进到里面。毛九说，“这是一个浴缸。”（bath，[bɑːθ]，浴缸；洗澡）

Weeza said, “Of course it is!”

And that’s what the funny thing was… well, sort of.维扎说，“这当然是一个浴缸啦！” 这，就是那些个有意思的事情…… 发生的经过。
