The over cultivation and other causes totaling around 35%.Interestingly,no land degradation is recorded in Oceania due to over cultivation. However, Europe scored slightly le than 8% that is 7.7 followed by North America(3.3).In the end,it is understood from the given data that Europe exceeded in land degradation with 23% and the least is accounted in North America with 5%.(Band: 6.7)

IELTS 8 test 1 writing task 2 Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society.Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.Discu both these views and give your own opinion.[Answer 1] There is a debate over who should be responsible for teaching children how to be good members of society because nowadays children show various problems in this respect. Many people believe this sort of education should not restricted to parents, but also involves the schools. In this eay, I will explore this problem.Parents are no doubt of great significance in educating kids to behave properly in society. It is their parents who give children their early education, which will have a profound impact on children’s habits after they grow up.Therefore, telling children what they are expected to behave in public in their early age is rather important and can only be carried by parents. Also, living in a family means children will get in touch with various people, such as their relatives, neighbors and even strangers.By guiding them to be polite and to show respect for people, parents plays a crucial role in teaching children how to deal with the relationship with different people and to behave properly in society. On the other hand, school is also a place to learn this for children because they are put in an organization. In school, a child has the opportunity to acce his or her peers who may come from totally different backgrounds. As a result, conflicts could emerge in terms of personality, habits and wealth, etc.If teachers could guide students to treat everyone equally, to apologize for their own mistakes and to forgive others, then the leons would benefit them for a whole lifetime.Furthermore, children are required to obey some rules and regulations in school, which is particularly important as they would be bound by laws and morality after stepping into the society.Schools are the best places to help them understand this.Overall, although parents play a vital role in teaching children how to behave in society, schools shoulder great responsibilities as well.Only through the combination of parenting and schooling can children be pillars of the society.(Band: 8.2)

[Answer 2] A child’s education has never been about learning information and basic skills only.It has always included teaching the next generation how to be good members of society. Therefore, this cannot be the responsibility of the parents alone. In order to be a good member of any society the individual must respect and obey the rules of their community and share their values.Educating children to understand the need to obey rules and respect others always begins in the home and is widely thought to be the responsibility of parents. They will certainly be the first to help children learn what is important in life, how they are expected to behave and what role they will play in their world. However, learning to understand and share the value system of a whole society cannot be achieved just in the home.Once a child goes to school, they are entering a wider community where teachers and peers will have just as much influence as their parents do at home.At school, children will experience working and living with people from a whole variety of backgrounds from the wider society. This experience should teach them how to co-operate with each other and how to contribute to the life of their community. But to be a valuable member of any community is not like learning a simple skill. It is something that an individual goes on learning throughout life and it is the responsibility of every member of a society to take responsibility for helping the younger generation to become active and able members of that society.IELTS 8 test 2 writing task 1 The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.[Answer 1] The charts illustrate the differences of school spending in United Kingdom in 1981, 1991 and 2001.The chart contains five points as the parameters to distinguish the spending allocations during the survey.Total school spending in 1981 chart shows that teachers’ salaries used a majority spending of school with 40% of the total.Other workers’ salaries spent 28% of the total school spending, while furniture and equipment, and resources spent both 15% of the spending.Insurance was the least need spent by the school. In 1991, teachers’ salaries raised to 50% in total school spending.Resources were also raised 5% since ten years before. In contrast, furniture and equipment dropped to 5%, which decreased 15% since ten years before. In 2001, schools spending chart shows teachers’ salaries shrank 5% from ten years before. On the other hand, insurance, and furniture and equipment were increased five per cent and eighteen per cent.To sum up, according to the three charts, we can conclude that teachers’ salaries used the most of total school spending, even though the charts show those were fluctuated.[Answer 2] The three pie charts below show the changes in annual spending by a particular UK school in 1981, 1991 and 2001.In all three years, teachers’ salaries always had the largest proportion, rising to 50% in 1991 and ending at 45% in 2001.In contrast, insurance constantly occupied the smallest percentage, although it increased from 2% to 8%.In addition, other workers’ salaries kept decreasing from 28% in 1981 to only 15% in 2001.Spending on resources had increased to 20% in 1991 before dropping to only 9% by the end of the period.By contrast, the cost of furniture and equipment experienced an opposite trend, decreasing to only 5% in 1991, but rising sharply to 23% of total school budget in 2001.All in all, it is clear to see that most of the school expenditure is spent on teachers’ salaries, and the proportion of insurance could be seen an upward trend. However, le and le cost is spent on other workers’ salaries.IELTS 8 test 2 writing task 2 Nowadays the way many people interact with each other has changed because of technology. In what ways has technology affected the types of relationships people make? Has this become a positive or negative development?

It is true that new technologies have had an influence on communication between people.Technology has affected relationships in various ways, and in my opinion there are both positive and negative effects.Technology has had an impact on relationships in busine, education and social life.Firstly, telephones and the Internet allow busine people in different countries to interact without ever meeting each other.Secondly, services like Skype create new poibilities for relationships between students and teachers. For example, a student can now take video leons with a teacher in a different city or country. Finally, many people use social networks, like Facebook, to make new friends and find people who share common interests, and they interact through their computers rather than face to face.On the one hand, these developments can be extremely positive.Cooperation between people in different countries was much more difficult when communication was limited to written letters or telegrams.Nowadays, interactions by email, phone or video are almost as good as face-to-face meetings, and many of us benefit from these interactions, either in work or social contexts. On the other hand, the availability of new communication technologies can also have the result of isolating people and discouraging real interaction. For example, many young people choose to make friends online rather than mixing with their peers in the real world, and these ‘virtual’ relationships are a poor substitute for real friendships. In conclusion, technology has certainly revolutionized communication between people, but not all of the outcomes of this revolution have been positive.(Band: 9)

IELTS 8 test 3 writing task 1 The diagrams below show the stages and equipment used in the cement-making proce, and how cement is used to produce concrete for building purposes.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. The diagrams provide information about the equipment that are involved to produce cement and the way of using cement to produce concrete for building purposes. At the first stage, limestone and clay are crushed through crusher machine and changed to powder. These powders are mixed together by mixer and gone into rotating heater which works with heat. After that these materials are gone into grinder and changed to cement which are packed to bags.Furthermore, in the concrete production, there are four main elements including: cement, water, sand and gravel. Each of them has a certain percentage to produce concrete with 15 percent cement, 10 percent water and sand and gravel percentages are 25% and 50% respectively. These materials are mixed together in a big concrete mixer which leads to producing concrete for building aims.In conclusion, it is clear from the diagrams that there are four important stages in cement production while concrete production has only one stage. Moreover, cement is produced by mixing two elements while concrete is produced by mixing four elements that gravel has the highest proportion.(Band: 7.9)

IELTS 8 test 3 writing task 2 Increasing the price of petrol is the best way to solve growing traffic and pollution problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures do you think might be effective?

[Answer 1] With surging population and urbanization, the traffic congestion and air pollution have become preing iues in the today’s society. Most people believe that soaring petrol price is the best way to tackle these iues. Some people believe that hike in the petrol prices will reflect on the low economy residents. However, the car owners are the middle and high income people therefore still the congestion and air pollution persists. In my perspective, increasing petrol price is not only the best solution but also the other measures can be added up.Firstly, the government can urge the citizens to use an electric car in lieu of petrol car.In addition, on motor vehicles such as bicycle would mitigate CO, CO2 emiions and global warming.Besides that the government can build SPECIAL lanes for bike riders and also government can adhere obligatory pollution levy or congestion charges. So, the money received can be leveraged to reform public transportation systems such as metro, trams etc.Additionally, alternative to foil fuels can be bio diesel obtained from vegetable oil or animal fat which are predominately used in USA.These bio diesels in turn reduces emiions. For instance, British train operating company have incorporated 80% petro diesel and 20% biodiesel. As a result, these naturally obtained oils could protect environment from greenhouse emiions, bio degradation. To sum up, rising fuel prices is not the optimal approach to bring down the amount of traffic congestion and pollution iues.Alternatively, other rigorous methods can be adhered to tinker the current system.Despite this, it is the combined effort of the government and people to guard the environment by planting more trees which will moderate the air pollution.[Answer 2] Traffic and pollution is increasing with hand in hand inceantly due to the growing number of private vehicles. Therefore, some people argue that peaking price of oil is the best remedy. It is a fantastic idea, I think. But some measure has to be taken pertaining to the matter. All that is required to succe the idea is a policy combined with several measures so that we can reduce the negative impact of it.To begin with, it is obvious that higher energy prices cast down people to use their private cars.Since higher cost of fuel may mount financial preure of car users.Consequently, they may turn to economy transportation, such as train, bus and even bicycle.Denmark is a good example to be mentioned. In my tour, I was riding a car on the way to my hotel at the 6 p.m.the rush hour.It was rush hour because 50 percent of the traffic in every intersection was bicycles. That is roughly the percentage of Danes who use two-wheelers to go to and from work or school every day here.If I live in a city that had dedicated bike lanes everywhere, including one to the airport, I would go to work that way, too.It means le traffic, le pollution and le obesity. Now come to the point, to attain succe we can follow the Danes’ steps. In 1973, Denmark was badly hammered by the Arab oil embargo and it banned all Sunday driving for a while. Not only that Danes imposed on themselves a set of gasoline taxes, CO2 taxes and building-and-appliance efficiency standards that allow themselves, while barely growing their energy consumption, and gave birth to a Danish clean-power industry that is one of the most competitive in the world today.Interestingly, increasing taxes forced them to innovate more, like the way Danes recycle waste heat from their coal-fired power plants and use it for hot water and home heating. In addition, the higher energy taxes have actually had positive impact on job creation. For example, the wind industry;it was nothing in the 1970s.Today, one third of all terrestrial wind turbines in the world come from Denmark. In the last ten years, Denmark’s exports of energy saving products have tripled. From the above discuion, it is clear like distil water that high taxation on fuel may bring bleings for us.I believe that it would reduce traffic and pollution, and at the same time, it will generate our GDP.So, undoubtedly increasing petrol price is an outstanding idea that we apply.IELTS 8 test 4 writing task 1 The graph below shows the quantities of goods transportedin the UK between 1974 and 2002 by four different modes of transport.Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. The graph provides information about how the quantities of transported goods are changed by four different modes of transport in United Kingdom between 1974 and 2002.In general, it is clear from the data given that three methods of transporting has upward trends, including road, water and pipeline while the one which was rail way, remained stable between 1974 and 2002.The quantities of goods which are transported by road had highest level during this 28 years period. In contrast, the quantities of goods transported by pipeline had lowest level during the same period. The quantities of transported goods by road started at 70 million tons in 1974 and after a slight fluctuation reached to just le than 100 million tons in 2002.It cannot be overlooked that although the quantities of goods transported by water and rail way were matched from 1974 to 1978 with 40 million tons, it can be seen that in the following years, they had inverse patterns. The amount of goods transported by water after a slight decrease in 1998 with almost 58 million tons, reached to almost 63 million tons in 2002.In contrast, the quantities of goods that are transferred by rail remained at 40 million tons in 2002.In conclusion, it is obvious that people preferred to transport their goods by road in the United Kingdom between 1974 and 2002.Furthermore, using the other ways like pipeline and rail were unpopular that time.(Band: 8.9)IELTS 8 test 4 writing task 2 In some countries the average weight of people is increasing and their levels of health and fitne are decreasing. What do you think are the causes of these problems and what measures could be taken to solve them?

[Answer 1] Nowadays nobody can deny the fact being over-weighted is getting a serious problem for most people all over the world. Moreover, decreases in the levels of health and fitne make us think about this iue and take some measures immediately. To begin with, there are several reasons which bring about over weightine. To my mind, as one of the numerous causes, modern lifestyles of people maintain the top position of the list.To date, technological developments have eased our lives, however it has almost lacked the physical work.In other words people can do everything;send letter, pay for something, even they can do shopping without standing from their seats.Furthermore, current work conditions which generally do not involve physical work cause the problems as I mentioned above.Last but not least, one of the biggest problems of today’s world is fast food which is not healthy and mentioned the main cause of over weightine by most of scientists. When it comes to the solution to this problem, from my perspective, people must be educated about healthy lifestyles. In that case, I emphasize the role of governments and ma media. The collaboration between them in a variety ways, such as video clips on TVs which have purpose on encouraging people to do sport, avoiding fast foods and etc.will improve the situation.Another measure I would like to add to increase the taxes for junk foods.Consequently, the rising prices will leen interest for this kind of foods. To sum up, I strongly believe that if the measures are taken immediately, we will never face these types of problems again.(Band: 8)

[Answer 2] The fact that people are generally le healthy and obesity is on the rise in many countries has been widely reported in the news recently.Various studies and reports have confirmed this trend and governments and health care services are worried about the future consequences.Various reasons have been identified by experts as to why a person may become obese or suffer a decrease in their levels of health and fitne.Changes in lifestyle and the disappearance of much traditional physical and manual work in many developed countries have been cited.More people now work in sedentary jobs.We have witneed a major change in eating habits over the last few decades with a shift to more fast food and convenience food than was consumed before. In fact, in some countries convenience food has become the norm in large sections of the population.Apart from food and changes in work patterns, many people now get le exercise than previous generations.People generally walk le and cycle le as a means of getting from one place to another.More people have cars and have become accustomed to travelling door to door. Many people complain of not having enough time for themselves.Work seems to occupy more and more time and they have le leisure time to relax or dedicate to exercise.Young children and teenagers spend more time sitting using their computers or playing games than playing outside and running around than in the past. This can lead to weight problems at a younger age and carry into adult life.In order to redre these problems, people need to make life changes, they need to adopt new eating habits, exercise regularly and make sure that they control their weight. The poible health risks aociated with being overweight are serious, and in countries like the USA these conditions are now competing with those related to smoking as being the most draining on health resources and the most costly for health providers.Being fit and healthy has many benefits and while people in general live longer nowadays, that is mainly due to improved medical care not due to people having a healthier lifestyle than in the past.General training test A(Task 1)You have recently moved to a different house.Write a letter to an English-speaking friend. In your letter.explain why you have moved.describe the new house.invite your friend to come and visit

General training test A(Task 2)Today more people are travelling than ever before. Why is this the case? What are the benefits of travelling for the traveler?

[Answer 1] Nowadays, travelling eential due to globalization and industrialization.People are travelling for various reasons and it is neceary in today’s competitive world. There are also some advantages due to travelling.People used to travel for busine, work, education, tourism, pilgrimage, medical treatment, sports, etc.In busine, too delicate with other company, delicate needs travelling to meeting corresponding officials. For work, employee used to travel for long distance to work. Some employees go for offshore to work in client place in order to get requirement and solve the technical iues.To study in best university, students travel and stay in nearest place of the university.Devotees visit holy places to get bleing from god.For example, Hindu devotees in India visit holy places of kais to Rameswaram as pilgrim for once in their lifetime. To take best medical treatment people used to travel for long distant hospitals.Sportsperson need to travel abroad to participate in the international sport events. Some people travel for awarene program to spread awarene about effects of HIV(Human Immunodeficiency Virus), discipline, drugs, smoking, drink and drive, tobacco and cancer.Tourism helps to meet new people and share culture and custom.People can learn different languages and teach their language to the non-speakers.It helps to be fit and travelers can enjoy different types of food according to the place and weather. Moreover, they will get new friends and gain networking skills. It makes them confident and motivation to be a good human being. To conclude, travelling helps in various ways to human society. It is unavoidable, as people have to travel for a purpose to complete their engagement and it satisfies their needs. It gives inspiration and dedication by watching long distance travelers as they have to face hardships to reach their goal.[Answer 2] Nowadays, more people are travelling than ever before. The reasons for this increase are varied and many.On a simplistic level, there is a large number of means of transportation, more cars, buses and trains. In China, most cities have been connected with each other by rails or freeways. But it is not enough to explain this increase, the cost of traveling, even though it is still increased due to the economic slow-down globally, is affordable for most people. It is mainly caused by the competition among several transportation means, in addition, people have more spare time and disposable income than before. What's more, in order to boost busine, many companies located their some departments outside, even abroad. So people often need to travel between cities or countries for work.So what does travel bring to us? First and the most, travelling expands our horizons, we may have heard or read something before but we cannot get an accurate picture until we see it by ourselves, we can learn much during our travel about biology, geography and history of local place we visit.Secondly, it brings more investments and work opportunities to some areas, travel has been the main source of income for many places, especially for many Southeast Asian and African countries.A report said, last year, Thailand attracted more than 5 million visitors, and in some African countries, many people have gotten rid of poverty by doing tourism busine.Last but not least, travelling gives us opportunity to reconnect with our friends. With the paage of time, our friends maybe have lived separated and we often mi each other, travelling provides us a chance to meet each other and recall our memories.Travel has been a neceary part of our life.General training test B(Task 1)You recently bought a piece of equipment for your kitchen but it did not work. You phoned the shop but no action was taken.Write a letter to the shop manager. In your letter.describe the problem with the equipment.explain what happened when you phoned the shop.say what you would like the manager to do.Dear Sir or Madam,I am writing to you to show my diatisfaction towards the quality of food proceor that I bought 10 days ago.The model number of food proceor is AF 128 AND IS OF TESCO brand. The problem with the equipment is that it is stopping every time I operate the proceor on its full speed. However, the proceor is running normal when operate it at other speeds.I found this problem on the very next day when I started to use it and immediately I phoned your customer care number printed on the booklet which is provided with the equipment. But, the agent on phone was of no use and in fact, the response from the agent was not up to the mark. The agent on the phone was not ready to listen to my problem and asked me to come to the store with the proceor for further query.I am not at all happy with my experience with your store this time, although I never faced any iues with other items that I bought before.I would like you to replace the proceor or to give me full refund for the equipment. Also I am hoping that you will make sure that this mistake will not be repeated in the future.Sincerely, Jatin

General training test B(Task 2)Some people think that it is better to educate boys and girls in separate schools.Others, however, believe that boys and girls benefitmore from attending mixed schools.Discu both these views and give your own opinion.[Answer 1] Education’s system have remained a controversial iue in these days. Some people suggested that each school should divide to two types which include one for boy and the other for girls. While mixed schools also are voted by a large number of people. This eay will discu both sides of this iue and give my opinion. As can be seen, single – sex schools bring significant benefit which make a huge truth on the public.First of all, education’s program can adjusted in order to suitable for gender in each kind of school. For example, physical’ subjects have many level from lowest to highest, while girls are not as strong as boys to do the same level of physical exercise.Hence, if school can separate, subjects will be teach for appropriate sexes and therefore, this problem can solve effectively. In addition, there are an increasing number of love stories from school in recent years. The separated schools could decrease slightly this iues.Because in this cases, pupils at school do not have time to spend together, therefore also lack of the majority of opportunities to make a close connection.Despite single – sex schools might be useful, mixed school bring a large number of advantages for students.First, when boys and girls learn at same school, they can support each other in each subjects. For example, girls usually more ingenious than the counterparts;whereas, boys usually more clever. With gendered feature, they could combine and develop themselves by an effective way.Secondly, male and female obviously will work together in the future.Providing that students choose to study at mixed school, through their education, they experience their relationship with the opposite sex.Overall, I am firmly convinced that people should witne their education in mixed schools. The former for exposure with opposite gender, the later for develop themselves completely in mixed environment.[Band:7.6]

[Answer 2] Education is certainly very important for everyone. With the existence of gender bias and co-educational schools it is indeed a debate on which is better for education. Before commenting on final opinion, both the aspects need to be evaluated. My inclination is argued further.Focusing on the former view, I believe separate schooling has its own pros and cons.Children who attend these types of schools is focused towards their studies as there is le distraction.Minimal chances are there that they will get carried away from the prime motto, which is nothing but studies at this age.In addition to this, students with such schools are much more organized in terms of regular living habits, for example, punctuality, respect towards elder and so no … Although having all the above benefits there are also few drawbacks which these students face, socializing is a hardship for them when they step into a real world. As these children upbringing is done in their same gender group. On the other hand, I strongly agree that, co-education facilitates much more compare to separate schools.I would provide my discretion as below.Since both the gender learn together and know each other’s strengths and weaknees. Therefore, competition between them is strong and healthy.Eventually it is also neceary to build understanding between them, as they are going to lead our nation ahead.Mixed education is utmost important as it enhances personal and profeional career front of individual students when they face world where gender bias has no existence.Even though it’s a notion that this kind of education leads to distraction from studies, like immature emotional attachment towards opposite gender, pear group indulge in pranks, teasing, worthle arguments which is sheer waste of quality time and done just for fun. Moreover this also leads to fear of getting humiliated. To sum it up, I would still prefer children attending co-educational mixed schools as the actual world consists of both the genders.Mixed education is better as children at their growing age understand how to value, respect, and learn collectively from each other which makes them a complete individual who knows emotional values.
