41百年长郡朴实沉毅
长沙市长郡中学系湖南省示范性普通高级中学，1904年由长沙知府颜钟骥创建，始称“长沙府中学堂”，是当时唯一的府立中学堂，在长沙首倡新学。1912年，府制废除后，在长沙府中学堂的基础上建立湖南长郡公立学校。此后，学校先后更名为湖南第一联合县立中学、长郡公学、湖南长郡联立中学校、长沙市第一中学(1951年)、长沙市第二中学，1984年恢复长郡中学的校名。
百余年来，长郡中学以“朴实沉毅”为校训陶铸群英，为社会共输送了七万八千多名合格毕业生，不仅造就了徐特立、李维汉、陈子展、周世钊等一代名师，还孕育了任弼时、李立
三、李富春、肖劲光、陈赓、曾三等老一辈无产阶级革命家，从这里走出了张孝骞、沈其震等十三位院士和美学家蔡仪、音乐家吕骥及青年歌唱家张也、陈小朵等一大批学者名家。长郡中学有由知名校友设立、每年颁发的专项奖学基金17项、专项奖教基金4项。
长郡中学在传承百年历史文化精髓与发掘现实潜力的结合点上，坚持“以人为本，追求卓越”的办学理念，确立“和谐发展、内涵发展、特色发展、国际化发展”的发展思路，实践“为学生的终生发展奠基”、“成材先成人”的育人思想，全面推进素质教育，办出了特色，形成了品牌。
学校教学质量长盛不衰，素质教育成果叠出。1995年以来，教育教学各项评价指标连年领跑湖南，仅2007年至2010年四年高考中，就有150名学生被北大、清华录取；学生在高中数、理、化、生、信息学五科奥赛中获得全国联赛一等奖508人次，有40名学生入选国家集训队，夺得国际奥赛金牌7枚；在全国艺、体、美竞赛中，获得全国一等奖或金牌172项。体操队四次代表中国参加世界中学生运动会，荣获金牌5枚、银牌8枚、铜牌9枚；澄池文学社两次被评选为全国中学生百强文学社团。学校的“走进军营”、“走进大自然”、“走进社区”、“走进工厂”和“走进新农村”等体验活动成为省内外知名的素质教育品牌。

2009年秋季，由长沙市人民政府投资3.2亿元建设、位于长沙市“两型社会”先导区内八方小区、占地150亩的长郡新校区正式开学。长郡两校区在河东、河西比翼齐飞，学校的发展又翻开了新的一页。

with 100 Years Old History
Changjun High School of Changsha city is a key high school model in
Hunan province.In 1904, the Prefecture of Changsha established
“Changsha prefectural school”, which was the earliest prefectural
school at that time.In 1912, after the prefectural system was
abolished, Hunan Changjun state-owned High School was founded based
on the prefectural school.Later, the school was renamed as Hunan
First United County-owned High School, Changjun State-owned school,Hunan Changjun United High School, Changsha First High School（in
1951）, Changsha Second High School and Changjun High School in 1984.For one century, with the school principle of Simple, Sincere,Self-poeed and resolute, the school has sent a total of morethan 78,000 qualified graduates, maintaining a large number ofexcellent people.Changjun High School obtains high reputation notonly for its famous teachers such as Xu Teli, Li Weihan, Chen Zizhanand Zhou Shizhao, but also for its distinguished students includingrevolutionists such as Ren Bishi, Li Lisan, Li Fuchun, Xiao
Jingguang, Chen Geng and Zeng San, 13 academicians such as ZhangXiaoqian and Shen Qizheng.Besides them, esthetician Caiyi, musicianLu Ji and youth singer Zhang Ye and Chen Xiaoduo once studied here.The school has 17 items of annually-awarded scholarship fund and 4items of special teachers’ educational fund set up by well-knownalumni.Based on its experience, Changjun people have established its

University and Qinghua University;Totally 508 students won firstprize in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology andinformation science at the Olympics for High-school studentsprovincially and nationally.Among them 40 students entered thenational training team, winning 7 international gold medals.As forthe art and sports, students won 172 national gold medals.Changjungymnastics team attended World Gymnastic Competitions for
