英语专业论文选题可分为以下几个学科方向
一、语言学及应用语言学（语言学一般理论的研究，如：语言文字研究，词汇、短语和句子研究，英汉对比研究、语篇研究，语料库研究、语言与文化等）；
二、英美文学（英美文学的评论、文学流派研究、作家研究和作品分析，以及中外比较文学研究等）；
三、翻译学（翻译理论与实践探讨、译本研究以及名家名著翻译作品对比研究等）；
四、西方文化（文化与外语学习、英美加澳新等英语国家文化以及与汉文化的中西文化比较研究）；
五、教学法（英语教学法、测试学等方面的研究；英语学习个体差异研究，如：不同性格的学生的口语能力有何不同？）；
六、商务英语（国际贸易与实务等；旅游与旅游管理等）
