Doris Tian 田静 201434520441 Cla 3 When I first saw the name “Great Expectation “ I feel that I was familiar with it.Actually I have seen the movie before.It was written by an English writer in the 19th Century-Charles Dickens, in a quite sarcastic way.When I was reading the novel, it felt as I was connected with the character.Here, I want to share two characters in this novel who impreed me most.The first is the main character: Pip, who was an orphan living with his sister and uncle Joe.His sister was fierce but his uncle was kind.Pip enjoyed living with him and liked playing with his friends in his hometown.He was satisfied with his life and definitely want to be a blacksmith as his uncle.But when he met a girl named Estelle, everything changed.He began to compare with her and want to change his destiny.He becomes unsatisfied with his life and desire better education.His life began to be controlled by other people.I feel sympathetic to Pip.As a poor child.He was very easily to be influend.His wrong choice bring a big tragedy to him.I feel sorry to the ending of this novel.Second I want to introduce Mi Havisham.One sentence to conclude her is: rich in material life but poor in inner world.She was very pathetic as she was cheated by her dear family and lover.She didn’t trust anyone and felt lonely.No one respect her by heart.She even didn’t have a friend.What a pity that a people don’t have a friend.I think that is the life make Mi Havisham become such indifferent.
