The recent death of the world's most famous sheep—Dolly the clone—has not dampened the enthusiasm(热情)of Chinese scientists, who are working hard to make more breakthroughs in clone technology.

“It is hard to say whether Dolly died at a relatively young age or died from defects(缺陷)in reproduction,”Du Miao,a researcher with the Biology and Growth Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, told China Daily in Beijing yesterday.“But Dolly's case reminds us that both Chinese and foreign scientists should put more efforts into improving clone technology as well as disease treatment techniques in the field of cloning animals.” He said his institute,in co operation(合作)with Yangzhou University in Eastern China's Jiangsu Province, had cloned more than 10 sheep since 1999 and the oldest is nearly five. Tokyo is one of those places that you can love and hate at the same time. In Tokyo there are always too many people in the places where you want to be. Of course there are too many cars. The Japanese drive very fast when they can,but in Tokyo they often spend a long time in traffic jams(交通阻塞).Tokyo is not different from London,Paris and New York in that.It is different when one wants to walk.

At certain times of the day there are a lot of people on foot in London's Oxford Street. But the street near the Ginza in Tokyo always has a lot of people on foot, and sometimes it is really difficult to walk. People are very polite; there are just too many of them.

Antarctica(南极洲),with its seemingly endle icy beauty,is one place where one look is worth a thousand words. My own dream to see it came true last January when I joined the sixth exploration(考察)crew of the China National Marine Bureau. We spent 10 days connecting flights to reach our goal, but finally arrived at the Great Wall Station on Antarctica on the eve of Chinese New Year.

There are only two seasons in Antarctica: winter and summer. You get polar(极地的)nights in winter and polar days in summer. Day is longer than night in summer, and the temperature often reaches below zero. Luckily, there are no snowstorms in summer, which makes it the best season to travel. What I imagined(想象)before starting for Antarctica was a world of ice, storms, endle cold and loneline. When I stopped on Antarctica for the first time, however,I saw rich, energetic and beautiful scenery that was beyond anything I had imagined.

We only spent 11 days at the South Pole(南极),but every minute was spent taking pictures and losing our heart to the wonderland. Beauty enveloped us as we watched the world around us.The mountains, oceans, ice, snow, sky, earth and inhabitants(居民)all seemed to have their own stories.

Rocks from Antarctica are considered valuable. Unfortunately,I didn't bring one back. However,my heavy bags full of film are certainly worth that. It is in these pictures that the true Antarctica comes alive.
