People can only be strong when a country is strong

Ladies and gentlemen, my dear audience of colleagues from all around the world, nice to see you!

My name is Zhu Xiaoyao.I come from China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporatoin, called CPECC.I join CPECC in 2007, when I graduated from college.It’s been two years since then, and only two years.Even though I can’t make as much and as long contributions as most of you, I feel that we have the same kind of inspiration.Today, on this stage, I’m proud to share with you my feeling of being a member of you.When I was a child, there was a book saying that the well-being of the youth determines a nation’s wealth and power.Enlightened by this saying, I endeavored to strengthen myself, hoping to make our country strong.As the years pa by, I’ve grown into an adult, and our country has become much stronger.Today, I would like to share with you another reverse point, only when a country is strong, the youth can be strong, the people can be strong.Since the1840s, this land was in peril for decades, but it still nurtured millions of her children.This year we are going to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China.The last 60 years have seen great changes.The Shenzhou spaceship is carrying China’s hopes into space;the Three Gorges Dam is standing among the lofty mountains;thousands of miles of rail convey opportunities to the remote people;the Olympic flame blazed on this old civilized continent.China’s opening her arms to the world;we are showing the world our 5000-year civilization and new spirit.Under her arms we confidently stand tall;by her wings we freely ride on wind.While China is changing, we are striving on the oil fields relentlely.We deeply believe in the great value of this black gold to our country，because we can still recall the past helplene we faced due to the shortage of it.How can a nation stand independently without it? How can a nation shake off its poverty without it?

Thanks to our fathers’ and grandfathers’ generation of petro workers, and thanks to their determined efforts and hard toil of lives.That’s their brave answer to China’s call, in spite of their sacrifices.What they suffered, we are still suffering.However, the bursting oil from the deep Earth is always our best reward.At those moments, we smile, for ourselves and also for our country.集团公司青年英语演讲比赛中国石油工程建设公司选手：朱晓垚

The burden on our shoulders is heavy.It’s the happy lives of thousands of millions of brothers and sisters.It’s the foundation of peace and prosperity of our country.We have neither a giant’s body nor his arms.Our strength comes from enduring power of ideals and unyielding hopes.I am a planning engineer working in Sudan.Days and nights I stayed with hundreds of my colleagues, and received innumerable support and help from our seniors and managers.My friends, we have different responsibilities, but we share the same goal.That is China’s oil industry and China’s development.My friends, the more I stay with you, the more aware I’m of the insignificance of myself, as insignificant as one drop in the ocean.But I’d love to be this one drop.And I love this great ocean, because its monumental strength is not a just a collection of individual drops.I love our great-ocean-sized cause, because no matter what color of skin we have, no matter what religions we believe in, no matter where we came from, it is the value of loyalty, honesty, justne, harmony and respect that combine us to send a meage that we have never been just a collection of individual companies or organizations.We are, and always will be, the China National Petroleum Corporation.This is the era, when competition between nations is the competition for energy and resources.The victor will stride forward, and roam acro the length of history.We the petro workers are soldiers in this peaceful struggle, fighting for a brighter future for our country.We are a team of ordinary people, but we are creating extraordinary history.We have each drop of sweat, and we never have glorious reputation.But we are composing the most splendid music and dancing the most outstanding steps.We listen for the victory trumpet to sound on the battle field where we fought, where the years of our youth were spent.We expect a more powerful motherland could be able to support us, afford us, and aure us a better tomorrow.Thank you!集团公司青年英语演讲比赛中国石油工程建设公司选手：朱晓垚

国强则民强

女士们，先生们，还有来自世界各地的亲爱的同事们，你们好！

我的名字叫朱晓垚。我来自工程建设公司。在2007年毕业以后，我就加入了工程建设公司。虽然和你们中的大多数人相比，我为公司所做出的贡献一定是微乎其微的。但是，我认为我们一定会有相同的感悟。今天，在这个演讲台上，我，作为你们的一员，感到得是自豪和荣幸，因为能够与你们分享我的这种感受。

小时候曾经读到一本书，书中说少年强则国强，于是我始终努力着使自己变得强大，为了让祖国和我一样强大。时光流逝，岁月如梭，转眼间已然步出少年时光，终有天明了，国强则少年强，国强则民强。

伟大的祖国从血雨腥风中走来，带着累累的伤痕，哺育着数万万儿女。弹指挥间，沧海变桑田，回首眺望60年走过的路，我们曾在泥泞中前行，眼前的却是铺满鲜花的金光大道。神州飞船满载着祖国和人民的希望遨游在太空，三峡大坝横空出世，抑洪驱兽，安澜兴邦，新建的铁路犹如一条条巨龙翻山越岭，为远方的人们送去吉祥，奥林匹克的火焰燃烧在这片古老而文明的土地上，神州大地张开双臂迎接这个世界的款款而来，炎黄子孙以特有的方式向世界展示着5000年那渊远的文化。在祖国高大身躯庇护下的我们挺起了胸膛，这东方的巨龙腾飞在广阔的天空，而我们华夏儿女也终能跟随这巨龙自由的翱翔在蔚蓝的天空。

祖国在成长，作为石油战线的我们跟随着祖国的成长而奋斗不息，我们深知只有滚滚的石油才能为祖国的建设添砖加瓦，才能为祖国的经济输入新鲜的血液，才能让祖国在世界的舞台上立于不败之地。忆往昔，石油的贫乏曾一度让祖国陷入无奈和恐慌，一个石油匮乏的国家将无法摆脱被支配的地位，一个石油匮乏的国家也将无法改变他贫穷和落后的命运。于是，我们坚强的石油人勇敢的站在了开路先锋的队伍里，为了祖国的这声召唤，披荆斩棘，走进荒凉的大漠，踏上遥远的征程，忍受着孤独和苦闷的煎熬。当滚滚的石油从井口喷涌而出的那一刻，是对石油人最大的恩赐和奖赏，我们笑了，开心的笑了，这一笑为了自己，更为了伟大的祖国。

我们石油人深知肩负的重任，我们扛起的是几万万同胞的幸福生活，举起的是祖国和平稳定的基石，我们没有高大的身躯，没有强壮的臂膀，但是我们有坚定的信念和不屈的理想。理想为我们点亮前进的道路，执著牵引着我们奋斗前行。集团公司青年英语演讲比赛中国石油工程建设公司选手：朱晓垚

作为中国石油工程建设公司海外苏丹分公司的一名工程师，我真正感受到了肩上的担子有多重。在海外工作的无数个日日夜夜里，亲眼目睹了我们的兄弟姐妹不畏环境的艰苦，为了共同的目标而不懈地努力，亲身体会到了无数的领导和同事对我们深切地关怀和帮助。朋友们，我们虽然岗位不同、职责有别，但是我们拥有同一个目标，那就是中国的石油事业和祖国的发展。朋友们，我和你们在一起的日子越长，我越发感到自己的渺小，沧海一粟都不足以形容，但是我却为能在这沧海中停留驻足而感到骄傲和自豪，我热爱沧海中的每一粟，更热爱这沧海般伟大的事业。因为这沧海的伟大并非水滴的简单聚合；可能我们的肤色不同，信仰各异，可能我们来自祖国的五湖四海，但是我们共同的价值观——忠诚、正直、诚实、和谐和尊重——让我们团结在一起，让我们拥有同一个名字：中国石油天然气集团公司。

在这个崭新的年代，国与国的竞争就是能源和资源的竞争，在这场没有硝烟的战争中，胜利者将昂首阔步，在历史的长河中驰骋，而我们石油工作者就像和平年代的战士为了祖国这美好的希冀战斗在最前线。我们是一支最平凡的队伍却创造着不平凡的历史，昂扬的歌曲里听不到石油人的声音，婉约的舞姿中找不到石油人的身影，但是我们却用默默无闻和辛勤的汗水谱写着最嘹亮的乐章，脚踏着最朴实的舞步。我们期待着，期待着胜利的号角在曾经战斗和挥洒过青春的土地上响起；期待着祖国的强大为我们石油人守护一片绚烂的天空。
