IS Innovation always beneficial？
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!I am X X X!
The title of my speech today is “ Innovation, is it always beneficial？” My dear friends, what’s innovation? Innovation can be reflected in many aspects: in the research and development of a particular product, in all kinds of reforms and systems, and even in our academic research.On a broader level, we know that our school, JXUFE encourages our students and teachers to think critically and creatively, and in the report of president Hu during the 18th Party Congre , it also highlights the strategy of innovation-driven development.Because of scientific and technological innovation, we have acce to smartphones like Iphone and many other brands.They are so powerful devices that can even function as a mini mobile computer.With the innovation of trains, we’re able to enjoy the convenience and speed of the bullet train which can run up to 350 km/h.With China’s innovative combination of east and west, we can make Western ideas, customs and technology our own, and adapt them to our own use.And it’s with the innovation of activities in School of Busine Administration that we’re likely to participate in this English Speaking Contest.However, is Innovation always beneficial？My Answer is no.Innovation should be applied appropriately.If someone misuses innovation, it may cause harm to others and even the society.If someone abuses the innovation of cloning, it may disrespect human’s dignity and rights.Let me give you another example.In 1985, the Coca-Cola Company announced that formula of the Coca-Cola, which had been selling for 99 years, would change for the first time.Although the research of new taste had been conducted for years, just few weeks after the launch, the announcement evoked ditisfaction among consumers, and after 78 days, the company had to relaunch the claic coke.Some psychologists believed that the consumers were raising sentiment against the new Coca-Cola because of the resistence of the institution change rather than the pure resistence of taste.New taste could not replace claic taste, which means that innovation should not be overly used.So, ladies and gentlemen, innovation in itself is neither good nor bad, it is the uses that cause differences.And therefore, Let us make proper use of innovation, think right and do the right things.Hopefully scientific use of innovation will benefit us and others and even allows all of us to make a contribution to the society.Thank you very much!
