Man and His Environment Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life.With the tools of technology he has altered many physical features of the earth.He has transformed woodlands and prairies into farms and made lakes and reserviors out of rivers for irrigation purposes or hydroelectric power.Man has also modified the face of the earth by draining marshes and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.However, man's changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results.Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing danger to the health of the planet.Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles.Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside.The pollution of water is equally harmful.The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifele.Now environmental protection is more preing than ever before.As we know, maive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence.Indifference to these problems will mean committing suicide.Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws paed to conserve environment.Otherwise,man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.How to Keep Healthy Nowadays more and more people are concerned about their health.But how to keep healthy? Different people may give different answers to this question.In my opinion, it is eential to do the following.First, it is absolutely neceary to take some exercise every day.Research shows that getting plenty of exercise make the heart beat faster and the lungs work harder.This strengthens the heart, reduces the chance of heart attack, and helps lower blood preure.That's why more and more people are becoming active in various kinds of sports and exercises.Every morning many people get up early and take much exercise.Some practice shadowboxing and swordplay while others run, jog, walk or dance to music.In the afternoon,there are also many people keen on sports.Some play basketball or volleyball or table tennis, others go in for gymnastics or track events.Through sports and exercise, people become healthier and stronger.Medical researchers have proved that what people eat affects their health.They advise people to eat more fruit and vegetables and le meat such as beef and pork because meat contains more fat than poultry and fish.Fat can build up in the arteries, block the flow of blood, and cause a heart attack or stroke.Getting rid of bad habits like smoking and drinking alcohol is also an important way to keep healthy.Smoking and drinking alcohol injure one's health a great deal, and therefore should be given up.Unfortunately few people follow this advice.If people follow these three ways of keeping fit, they greatly improve their health.3 The World' s Population The first fifty years of the next millennium will be critical for the world's population.By 2050 population growth should have leveled off, but by then we'll have 10 billion people--two-thirds as many again as we have today.The rate of population growth is something we can choose right now, though: it's not something that just happens, but a matter of human choice.The choice is a complicated one,with many variables, but it remains a choice.If we want to prevent a population explosion, we should take action now-or aist the poorer countries to do so.They need better government, better institutions, better labor and capital markets, better schools.Anything that increases the value of women's time and adds to the cost of caring for a child makes a woman le likely to have that child.Since big families are often seen as safety nets for illne and old age, improving poor people's acce to insurance, pensions and welfare institutions also has a major impact.This can be as simple as rural credit, providing a means of saving.Finally, there is education--both for women and, perhaps even more important, for the next generation of children.These steps are there to be taken, but there appear to be some countries that are not seriously trying at the moment.If we cannot achieve that we will certainly not control population.That said, I don't feel peimistic that we are going to run out of resources: we are becoming more efficient at producing food faster than the rate at which population is increasing.There is, however, a risk that we will wreck the environment so effectively that the world will no longer be an attractive place to live.That really would be a dismal outcome, easier and better.The last technology is cellphone.Nowadays, many people have a cellphone.But it just appears on the market for about 10 years.It is very convenience to the users because we can talk to anyone we want with a phone as small as a wallet.Also, we can communicate with others by making a phone call instead of sending letters.It is very fast and useful way to communicate.In conclusion, The usage of Internet becomes one of the most controversial topics in the society.As a college student, I believe Internet is beneficial to me more than the way it harms me.There are many advantages for using Internet.First, I can best use my time to find information online instead of going to different libraries.Also, the information can be dated back in decades ago.It is very helpful to use those information as reference and historical proof.In the library, it is hard to find so much “old” information.Another advantage to use Internet is that I can stay home and have a lecture online.It is much more convenience to me because I can stay warm to have cla in the winter time instead of spending two hours on the bus and physically attend cla.In addition, Internet provides me a better way to communicate with my friends and profeors.I can get response from my profeor in a few minutes instead of waiting outside of his door for hours.Some of my friends are living in a foreign countries, I can simply just drop him an email whenever I can and get a meage from him very quick.It is much better than waiting for letters.Also, the email will not lose while the letter might be losing in the proce of delivery.However, there are also disadvantage of using Internet.For example, I might spend too much time on the Internet to concentrate on my study.Also, there is a chance that I am cheated because of the Internet purchasing.Last, Internet has lots of information, both helpful and harmful.There might be too much tempatation that I will acce some of the harmful information I can on the Internet.Even though the usage of Internet has both positive and negative effect to me, I still consider Internet is a symbol of technology development.I believe I can use the Internet very well as long as I know how to control myself.6.题目：国外旅游
