China is a country with long history.There are many proverbs in our daily life ,but I prefer “只要功夫深铁杵磨成针”to any others.This proverb’s surface meaning is that “If you work at it hard enough, you can grind an iron rod into a needle”.We can see the inside meaning of this proverb is that you can be succeed if you work hard or persistence can solve any problem from the surface meaning.I have to say this is a proverb that you can benefit a lot and that is useful throughout your life.It has a long history,as it were,it is also a tiny part of Chinese history that can be traced back to Tang dynasty and that is related to a famous poet whose name is Li Bai.What is the literary quotation of it? Actually,our well-known Li Bai didn’t like study as many of us,and he throwed books away to play outside.One day,he met a white-haired woman who was holding a large iron rod on a stone to mill.Li Bai was so curious about the action that asked what the old lady did.The kind lady told Li Bai she wanted to become the iron rod into a neddle.Li Bai was deeply moved and edified some philosophy by the action of the old and great lady.Since then,he paid his attention to study,and he become a celebrated poet finally.From that period,the proverb is used in daily life,and it has been used for many years.The American distinguished eayist Emerson as well as a thinker and poet who has said the similar meaning that the greats’ sign is perseverance,whatever the situation is,which is different from others as this proverb.There are three ancient Chinese stories that is Nangyingyingxue, reading by the light of bagged fireflies or the reflected light of snow,Xuanliangcigu, tying one's hair on the house beam and jab one's side with an awl to keep oneself awake,and Zaobitouguang, boring a hole on the wall in order to get some light from the neighbour's house,to illustrate this proverb is right,useful and meaningful.According to my opinion, this proverb suggest us that we should persist in everything for achieving our goals or dreams.In other word,we should be in pursuit of perseverance which is bamboo,whatever suffers violent storms or great storms,that he can stand there as the same as original figure.In our daily life,no matter what the dreams or goals are out of reach,different or arduous,we can not loose our heart or confidence.On the contrary,what we should do is what the proverb tells us that put our goals into many small parts or periods.So long as we finish every small parts,we can harvest our effort fruit.Although the proce is not flat,just like the proce of grinding an iron rod into a needle,but if we work hard as much as poible,we can complete it in the end.By the way,life is an iron rod that is needed to grind it day by day and step by step.Actually,I am a person who can not pay all attention to one thing.I am willing to give up my goal or dream once I meet difficulties.This proverb is the light or navigation in my way of achieving dreams and goals.Owing to it,I find my direction and realize what I really want to pursue.Believe yourself,only if you work hard enough and insist on your dream and goal,you will,as the iron rod becoming into an exquisite neddle,achieve your dream.
