The charts compare the proportion of water consumption for different purposes in six areas in the world.It is clear that four areas--South America, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia--rely on most water for agricultural use, at 71%, 84%,88% and 81% respectively.The percentage of industrial use is 5% more than domestic use in South East Asia while there is an opposite trend in the other three areas.Interestingly, Central Asia has the largest proportion of agricultural use among the four areas but the smallest consumption of industrial use.In contrast, water used in industry makes up the(half)largest parts in both pies for North America and Europe(48% and 53%).39% water is used for agriculture in North America and its counterpart in Europe is 7% le.Both areas have a similar percentage of domestic water use, which occupies 13% and 15% respectively.Overall, water is mainly used for agriculture in South America, Africa, Central Asia and South East Asia while in the other two areas, industry is the principal water consumer.What is worth mentioning is that, there is a more balanced water consumption in these two areas.
