Now, I’d like to state my viewpoints towards this iue.I firmly believe that we should ban media from reporting details of violent crime.Here, I mainly attach importance to two points Details and Violent Crime.There is no doubt that it is neceary for media to report the crime around us.However, media also should be very careful and self-control.And they shouldn’t focus on the bloody scene and the details of violence, when report a crime.Otherwise, to this degree, media might contribute to crimes.Ladies and gentlemen, have you ever heard The Werther Effect? Yes, the word is from the world-famous novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther.In early 1974, an American socialist David Phillips found that a such a phenomenon through his research: the suicide reported as a big news will cause at least another 58 cases of suicide.From this, he came to a conclusion: Any widely published violent crime is likely to be imitated by the other potential criminals.As far as I am concerned, China now is in a period of transition, and there are more conflicts and resentments in our society.So we should be much more careful than ever before in face of the iue reporting violent crimes.It is reported that many kids in 福建南平were killed cruelly in school last year.Media reported the details and highly publicized them immediately.After that several campus-killing cases appeared one by one in 广东雷州，江苏泰兴，陕西南郑.And these crimes all committed in a very similar way.A profeor in Peking University said that, it is too much emphasis put by media on the details that lead to a Chain Reaction.According to psychological analysis, people who are naive or perplexed are very likely to imitate others, while media just happened to provide them with a specific method to commit a crime by reporting details of violent crimes.Therefore, in my opinion, it is more desirable to report general conditions rather than details of violent crime.(News coverage should be not only about facts but also criticism and tendency.Media are supposed to focus on punishment giving to criminal instead of details of violent crime.)Finally, I’d like to point out that: HongKong and Taiwan have already banned media from reporting details of violent crime.Personally, I think it’s high time for us to do it as well!
