Let’s smile Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!It’s really a great honor for me to give you such a speech.Today my topic is “Let’s smile ”.I hope you will like it.You know, I’m a green hand at teaching, so I’ve been seeking ways to gain popularity from my students.You may wonder whether I’ve found one or not.Yes.In my opinion, smiling is the best way of teaching.When I had just taught for a few months last year, I found most of the students didn’t have good listening habits.Each time, I asked them questions, lots of them kept silent, which made me very angry.So I always had a serious expreion on my face.One day, I prepared well for a new leon and I was very happy, too.For the free talk, I asked one student: What did you do last week? After his answering, I asked the others: “What did he do last week? ”To my surprise, nobody put up their hands, but I had no idea.I wanted to shout but I controlled myself sadly.So I called one to answer.He stood up slowly without saying anything, even a “sorry”.Then I named another one, he also didn’t say a word, just like a statue, standing there.Finally, I asked a student whom I think she can answer it well,.But she didn’t hear me at all, sitting there, absent in cla.At that time, I couldn’t help shouting: “What are you doing? Every time I told you: Listen, listen, listen carefully!Didn’t you hear? I can’t bear your silence!”All the students sat there quitely.And I left the claroom with tears in my eyes.The days followed, I felt down and always had a bad mood, especially in cla.A few days later, a student wrote a letter to me: “Dear Mi Lian, I mi your smile.The first time you entered the claroom, what impreed me most was your big smile.You seemed so nice and beautiful at that time.To tell you the truth, you are not as beautiful as before, because there is no smile on your face…”

After reading the short letter, I looked into the mirror---the frown did make me ugly.“Smile , smile”, I said to myself.The next day, I entered the claroom with a big smile, and all the students said “Good morning, Mi Lian” cheerfully.In that cla, I never scold them even they can’t answer my questions, I still smiled to them and said: “Please be brave!Don’t be shy!” “Never mind, think it over, sit down, please” or “Linda, you must listen carefully in cla, understand?” Unexpectedly, more and more students started to put up their hands and shouted “let me try!let me try!”.It makes me excited.After that, I found the students are friendly to me and they are willing to say “Hello and Goodbye” to me.We became good friends gradually.From then on, I realized that the best way of teaching is smiling, rather than showing anger or criticizing.It is unfortunate for the students when the teacher never breaks a smile.A smile tells the students that we enjoy our teaching.If we are happy about what we are teaching, the children will pay more attention to what we teach.A smile also tells the students that we can tolerate their mistakes, and we are happy to be there with them.Smiling will also tend to make our teaching more active.What’s the most important, smiling can make us more beautiful or handsome.It is smile that makes my life wonderful.It is smile that makes me feel confident.It is smile that makes me different.So have fun in cla and smile!Even sometimes you are unhappy, just say “Come on, let’s smile!”.Everybody smiles!Smile every day!Smile can make you young.Smile can make you beautiful or handsome.Let’s smile together!That’s all.Thank you for your listening!
