Qinghai——Root of the World
Qinghai Province is a sparking jewel sets on the northwest plateau of China, wherein the Yangtze River, the Yellow River as well as the Mekong River take their source, and which is also known as the “ Roof of the World“.The name “Qinghai” derives from the country's biggest inland saltwater lake— the Qinghai Lake.She is a photographer and artist’s paradise of mirrored pastel sunrises, azure beauty in midday and the indigo blues of sunset.The Bird Island on the western tip hosts hundreds of thousand migratory birds, hovering over the sky or diving into the water.Differing from the vast, desolate areas of the province, Mengda Natural Reserve is home to several hundred kinds of plants in tropical, subtropical and temperate zones while many rare animal species can be found living in the reserve's forest.Qinghai also is one of the country's five major pastoral areas.Most of all, Caidamu Basin in the center of Qinghai province is also called “treasure bowl”(聚宝盆).That is to say, Qinghai is not only
cerebrated for scenic beauty but also famous for its rich natural resources.A total of 123 kinds of minerals have been found in Qinghai.Among
them, 50 kinds are found in abundance such as lake salt, bro-mine, silicon stone and limestone.Attractively, there are a few of diamonds.And the most important thing I want to say, it was in 2007 that the railway has been through from Xining to Lahsa.This is the highest
railway in the world, and it is the famous wonder Chinese people made again.Because Qinghai and Xizang are in the same plateau, the excellent collection in Kumbum is an eyeful of claic Chinese-Tibetan
architecture which has been preserved in best condition for centuries and its three typical Tibetan Supreme Arts developed by Kumbum’s lama
artists,that is evident in Yak Butter Sculpture, Frescoes.“Regong Art”, originated in this place, mainly reflect Tibetan Buddhist culture.The unique Tibetan culture legacy include painting,frescoes,thangkas, sculpture and architecture.If you want to know Tibetan Buddhism better, you’d better visit the Tarsi(塔尔寺)Temple, it is as famous as the Potala Palace(布达拉宫).Both Qinghai civilization and Sino-civilization are well-informed, old-line with prolific thoughts, profound culture base and persistent life.You can also explore the end of the World’, mystic’Lost City’ of which
had been described by Peter Fleming in his news from Tartary and discover the beauty of dazzling salt lakes.According to my lecture, you can see, my hometown--Qinghai province, is rich of mineral production, plateau plants, beautiful natural scenery, the unique claic architecture buildings, especially is the hub of communications(交通枢纽)to Xizang.So I am proud of my hometown, I love my hometown.
