The Eence of Chinese Culture--Taiji Quan
Have you watched the TV series The Heaven Sword and the Dragon Saber? Do you know Zhang Sanfeng? He is the founder of taiji quan.As a kind of typical Chinese culture, taiji quan is a traditional sport that is suitable for all ages and sexes.Taiji quan is a school of Chinese popular martial arts marked with slow and gentle movements that are designed for defense, strengthening of physique and prevention of diseases.Its core is the philosophy of Confucianism and Taoism.In this art, it is eential that the mind guides the body through graceful, gentle and firm movements.It originated in Chenjiagou in Wenxian County, Henan Province.There are different schools, including Chen, Yang, Wu, Wu and Sun styles.A long time ago, it was designed as an unique and profound self-defense technique.And it has been highly popular with the old and the weak.Concentrating on standard postures and breathing control, the movements of taiji quan are fluid, graceful and balanced, promoting the complete harmony of blood and mind.It provides the mental relaxation and physical fitne for people and it’s eential in the stre-filled society today.In taiji quan, softne is stronger than hardne, moving in a curve is better than a straight line, yielding is more efficient than confronting.It’s a sport that strengthens the body as well as the mind from within.Meanwhile, it reflects the features of Chinese ethics and philosophy—seeking harmony and maintaining balance.To Chinese people, harmony is a powerful word.There is nothing it cannot absorb and cover.Harmony seeks peace, compromise and concord.Maintaining balance is the ultimate purpose of harmony.As the world of nature and relaxation, taiji quan may become your new lifestyle in the future.
