With this beautiful American country song, we can feel a rich American flavor.Ladies and Gentlemen I am Luodan from applied English cla 1, today you will follow me to understand local customers and practices of America.Today we are mainly focusing on the History of United States, the American Religion、Literature、Education and American Culture.As we all know, the history of America is not very long, however, during this short history, the United States has created a lot of miracles.There are many significant events.It has influence not only in America but also on the world.On April 19, 1775,700 British soldiers marched to Boston.At the village of Lexington, they confronted 70 militiamen, one of whom fired a shot, and then the American War of Independence broke out.George Washington was one of the most outstanding leaders during the War, he was often revered by Independence, and the United States got total independence.With the development of their economy, the contradiction of the South and the North became sharp.In 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected as president, the Civil War broke out.After the War, American realized the unification of the American nation.After that, the communication of South and North increased, especially in religion.Religion is a very important part of life in America, just as some westerners comment that religion shapes the western character and culture.Christianity is the major American faith;almost 85% Americans
now are Christian which can be divided into many different religions groups such as Protestant, Roman Catholic and the Eastern Orthodox.The Protestant is the mainstream in America, 90% of all the churches in the USA are Protestant.In modern America, religion is just a kind of thought.And there is a close relation between religion and literature.Under the influence of religions, more and more American literatures arise.Here we divide it into three periods:
