Good morning,everybody.It takes us more than asemester towait for our turn to have oral presentation from the beginnning of this subject.Today, let`s begin from two big companies, the Xiaomi Company and the Apple Inc.I`d like to show you some photos first.What crazy fans.Really really crazy fams.Why these cell phones are so popular? For this question,there are so many reasons:
• Artistic design
• Popular brand
• Extrodinary quality
• Competitiveprice
• Excellent workmanship
• High performance-price ratio(性价比)
• The accumulated reputation in the electronic industry
And so on...All these reasons are eentail for an electronic product to become a best seller.But it is not enough.It still need a succeful marketing strategy.It is Hunger Marketing.What is Hunger Marketing?
As a result of the increasing preure from fierce market competition,enterprises have been constantly evolving its market strategy.“Hunger Marketing”, a newly evolved marketing approach has been adopted as part of the marketing strategy by many companies.Hunger marketing means that supplier`s intentional reduction(故意减少)of the productivity, in order to be in control of the consumer and supplier relationship, and to create an illusion(错觉)of supply shortage, hence(因此)to achieve a purpose of keeping a higher price and higher profitability.The iPhone 5s,released in sep.20th.The latest iPhone has three kind of colors: white, black and gold.And these days, the local tyrant gold(土豪金)is used the hunger marketing we talked about today.A news video will be showed on the screen now.In China, Xiaomi Mobile is becoming more and more popular recently.And some people criticize that Hunger Marketing has been exceively adopted by Xiaomi.Let`s watch a short video about that.Here is a chart showed the Open Purchase Situation of Xiaomi Company.Octomber 30th,50,000 Xiaomi 2 was sold out in 2m and 51s.Novmber 19th,...December 14th,...Because of its extrodinary quality and competitive price, lots of customers want to buy it online.But you can find that,buy a Xiaomi
Mobile is much more difficult than buy a train ticket during winter vacation.This is a pie chart about iOS and Android Chinese Installed Base(iOS系统和安卓系统的安装使用情况).It is obviously noticed that the pie chart is divided into four parts, that is Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi as well as other Android device manufactures.As we could see, Apple occupied 35%, which played the most significant role in the consumpution of iOS and Android Chinese Installed Base.While Samsung took up 15%, ranking the second whereas Xiaomi and other Android device manufactures accounted for 6% and 44% seperately.Xiaomi ranking the thired compare with Apple and Samsung.It is amazing.Some students might want to say,it is only 6%, not so much.It is not a big deal.But do you know when the Apple launched the iPhone 1? Lei jun said, within 10 months, the Xiaomi 2, 2A and 2S had sold more than 10,000,000(一千万台).It is evident that the hunger marketing is really a succeful strategy for companies to enhance their sales.But at the same time, the exceeding marketing caused the customers` complaints.For example, one netizen complained, “Whether manufacturers have the sincerity to sell products? Does it very interesting to let buyers crowded even head broken and bleeding? Even fans will give up one day!”
The reply on this complaints from lei Jun is always short supply.But we are not born yesterday.Short supply is definately a lie.The truth is Hunger Marketing.The exceeding Hunger Marketing lead to many problems, not only for Xiaomi,but also for other companies.For example, Meizu M8 has used the hunger marketing when it is preed in Beijing.But a variety of customers can not get their satisfacation of receiving new products.Finally, they asked for refound angerily.What`s more, a foreign man, the staff of the Apple store, had limbs conflict with a Chinese/ waited in a queue.Though the confrontation outside the Apple store in Sanlitun Village was resolved peacefully, the
company's long-term “hunger marketing” strategy has sparked questions from inside the industry, International Finance News reported.To sum up, before the enterprises decide to implement hunger marketing strategy, they must have a full realization to the market.Rather than only from their own profits to have a consideration, blindly limit or delay, but should combined with the customer's relationship and the nature of the product itself.Enterprises should concern about the dynamic feedback of the market in time, adjusting strategy according it.So the hunger marketing will not be a long-term plan.
