Hello everybody.Thank you.Thank you.Thank you.Everybody.All right.Everybody go and have a set.嗨，大家好。谢谢，谢谢，谢谢大家。好了，大家赶快坐下。How is everybody doing today? How about Tim spicer? I am here with student at Wakefield high school in Arlingdon, Virginia.大家今天过得怎么样？蒂姆斯宾塞怎么样？我现在和弗吉尼亚州阿林顿郡维克菲尔德高中的同学们在一起。

We’ve got student turning from all acro America from kindergarten to12 grade.全国各地有从幼儿园到高三的众多学生通过电视关注着这里。

And I’m just so glad that all you could join us today and I want to thank Wakefield for being such an outstanding host.Give yourselves an big round of applause.我很高兴你们今天都来参加这个演讲，感谢维克菲尔德高中能够把组织工作做的这么好，请为你们自己鼓掌。

I know that for many of you today is the first day of school.And for those of you in kindergarten or starting middle or high school, it’s your first day of the new school.今天是你们的开学第一天，对于刚进入幼儿园或者刚升入初中高中的学生来说，今天也是你们进入新学校的第一天。

So it’s understandable if you feel a little nervous.I imagine there are some seniors out there who are feeling pretty good right now,you are with just one more year to go.如果你觉得有一点紧张，那是正常的。我想，一些高年级的学生现在应该觉得非常开心，因为还有一年你们就要毕业了。

And no matter what grade you’re in ,some of you probably wish you are still in summer.And you could stay in bed a little bit longer this morning.不管你是哪个年级的，我想你们当中肯定有人还希望暑假还没结束，那样你们就能在今天早上多睡一小会儿。

I know that feeling.When I was young, my family lived overseas.I lived in Indonesia for a few years.And my mother, she didn’t have enough money to send me where all America kids went to school.我了解那种感受。在我很小的时候，我们家住在国外，我曾经在印度尼西亚住过几年。那时候我母亲没有足够的钱送我去美国孩子们上的学校。

But she thought it was important for me to keep up with an America education.So she decided to teach me extra leons herself.但是她还是认为我必须要接受美国式的教育，所以她决定自己在家里教我。

Monday to Friday,but because she had to go to work ,the only time she could do it was 4: 30 in the morning.因为她要去上班，只能在工作日的凌晨四点半教我。Now, as you might imagine, I wasn’t too happy to happy to getting up that early.And a lot of times ,I’d fall asleep right there at kitchen table.正如你们想的，我很不情愿每天那么早起床。有好多次我就直接在餐桌上睡着了。

Then whenever I complained it, my mother would just give me one of those looks and she’d say this is no picnic for me either, buster.每次我抱怨的时候，我妈就会一脸不情愿的对我说，你以为我教你很轻松吗，小鬼。

So I know that some of you are still adjusting to being back at school.But I am here today because I have something important to discu with you.我知道你们很多人还在适应回到校园的生活，但是我今天来到这里是因为我有重要的事情要和你讨论。I’m here because I want to talk with you about your education.And what’s expected of all of you in this new school year.我今天要和你们谈你们的教育问题，以及新学年对你们的期望。

I’ve given a lot of speeches about education.And I’ve talked about responsibility a lot.I’ve talked about teacher’s responsibility for inspiring students and pushing you to learn.关于教育的演讲，我已经做过很多次了，我也经常谈到责任问题。我说过老师的责任是鼓励学生，激励学生学习。

I’ve talked about your parent’s responsibility for making sure you on the track and get your homework done and don’t spend every waking time hour in front of the TV or with the Xbox.家长的责任是确保你走在正道上，监督你完成家庭作业，不允许你把时间都花在电视和游戏上。

I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for setting high standards and supporting teacher’s principals and turn around schools that they aren’t working,where students aren’t getting the opportunities they deserve.政府的责任是制定高的标准协助老师和学校的工作，提高学校的工作效率，改变有些学校里学生得不到应得的教育的状况。

But at the end of the day, we have the most delicated teachers , the most supporting parents, the best school in the world.And none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unle all of you fulfill your responsibility,unle you show up to those schools,unle you pay attention to those teachers,unle you listen to your parents and your grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.但即便是今天，我们拥有最尽职的老师，最配合的家长，最好的学校，如果你不履行自己的责任，不按时上学，不听长辈们的忠告，不努力成功，那么这一切都是白费。
