When we Chinese are so proud of kung fu and Japanese feel complacent towards their animation, a film called combines two of them to make a great difference in the world.As we all know, this panda is not from china or Japan, it’s “made” in America.Actually it’s one way Cultural diversity and cultural integration effect each other----one typical American way----to absorb so many different cultures then make them American one.So what can we learn from popularity of American culture? We, Chinese, have a vivid culture and history of our own.But what can we see nowadays----streets’ full of McDonald and KFC, we talk a lot about Korean operas and Japanese cartoons, and people are crazy about Valentine's day and Christmas.We all know that the tendency to modernize is no way to stop, then why can’t we use this tendency to save even refresh our culture? America can use Chinese kungfu and Japanese animation to make their “kung fu panda”, why can’t we? Some people may think it’s humiliated for our culture to do so.Why? Because in their mind, there exists no culture better than Chinese and if we lower our level to “cater”, it’s a shame.Really? Actually it’s not.There is no discrimination among cultures.And the aim of combination is rather than to “cater” but to fit our traditional culture into modern development.While some others may worry that it’s dangerous to keep the original culture through this way.I must admit that this is really a problem for combination is certain to bring some change to the original culture.However it’s not just a problem about cultural combination but about cultural translation.As you all know, the translated can’t beat the originals for there always exist some things you can’t translate just like what happened in the hard translation work of.But we all think translation of claic is neceary.Why? Because we know that spread of culture is more important than the accuracy of translation.And that’s the reason why I insist cultural combination.Some days before, I talked this topic with my friend who has studied in America for more than three years.I asked her whether she can feel any cultural integration in her life for America is famous with its multicultural trait.She just told me that modernism is one of the cultural integration for there is so similar between two developed cities from two countries with totally different cultures.“then it’s difficult to save our own culture in the developing proce if what you said is right” I asked despitefully.”well , I don’t think so.You can see original culture and modern culture both in Chengdu ” she answered.I know she is right and that’s why the idea of cultural combination comes to my mind.I have seen a succeful combination of Sichuan opera and magic in a world stage.And I know it’s just a start.
