Teaching Plan for A Smile

I.Teaching aims: In this leon, students are expected to:

A.review and learn some topic-related vocabulary and fully understand the

ideas that the reading material conveys.B.improve their comprehensive abilities of reading , listening and speaking through activities(including vocabulary focus, questions & answers, group discuion, opinion presentation and etc.)C.enhance sharing spirit, optimistic spirit and sense of social responsibility.II.Teaching Focus:

A.Based on the understanding of the main contents of the reading material and the grasp of the topic-related vocabulary, students will be encouraged to give a full presentation of facts and opinions.B.Knowledge focus:

important, gift, smile, as usual, too...to…, suddenly, change one’s life, without a word C.Moral focus: Learn to share and show kindne to the people around us.III.Teaching methods:

Task-based activities;pair work and group work VI.Teaching procedure: Step 1 Greetings T: Hello.Boys and girls, nice to meet you!Ss: Nice to meet you, too!T: I’m Nancy Young from Hangzhou Cuiyuan Middle School.You can call me Mi Young.I have a son.I feel very happy to be here with you.May I know something about you? Your name, please!S1:...T: How are you?

(设计意图:通过与学生的交流增进了解,缓解紧张的气氛,并为引出话题作铺垫)Step 2 Leading-in T: I had a busy but happy weekend.I felt great.My son was happy, too.Last Saturday was his birthday.He got many gifts.He is always happy when he gets a gift.How do you feel when you get a gift? Get the students to answer the question.(设计意图:激发学生的共情感,为阅读文章打一个感情的伏笔)

T: Everyone likes gifts.We all feel happy and excited.OK, what gift do you want to get? Get the students to show what gift they want to get.(设计意图:拓展他们的思路,为后面的环节作铺垫)

T: When I was young, I got a very important gift.Can you guest what it was? Get the students to answer like: I think you got a….(设计意图:对文章中的关键中心词有一个预测,引起学生的阅读好奇心)

Step 3 Skimming T: OK.Please read my story.Find out what my gift was.Get the students to find out the answer.(设计意图:让学生迅速找出答案, 让学生学会略读、跳读)

Step 4.Scanning T: Yes.It was a smile.Please read the story again.You see there are some blanks.Please work in groups of four.Try to put the statements back to the right places.Get the students to work in groups.Then check the answers.Get the students to read the sentences aloud.(设计意图:让学生小组合作,在阅读过程中理解上下文的逻辑关系,并学会在学习中探讨和互相帮助)T: OK.Boys and girls, please read the paage again and answer the two questions: When did I get the gift?

Get the students to read the story more carefully.And try to answer the following questions: 1.Where did I go that autumn? 2.How did I feel at first? Why did I feel like that? 3.How did I feel that cold rainy morning? Why? 4.What did the boy do when he paed me? 5.Did the boy say something to me? How do you know? 6.Did I know the boy’s name? 7.How did I feel when the boy smiled at me? 8.Why did the smile change my life?(设计意图:通过仔细阅读,更进一步理解文章内容)Step 6 Gueing from the context What does suddenly mean in the story? Step 7 Speaking out the sentence you like Get the students to tell the others which sentence in the paage they like best and why.Step 8 Giving a title to the story Get the students to give a title to the story.(设计意图:培养学生归纳中心思想的能力)Step 9 Free talk T: Smile is very important to our life.What else do you think is important to our life? Why? Get the students to expre themselves freely.T: We need all of these.They are all very important.And please don’t forget to give.So that one smile will become two.Remember: To give is better than to receive.(施比受更有福。)(设计意图:通过此活动开阔他们的思维,生活中重要的东西很多时候不是有形的,并训练说的能力)

Step 10 Let’s enjoy a song You are my sunshine You are my sunshine my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are grey you'll never know dear

how much I love you so please don't take my sunshine away Read the lyrics together.Get the students to explain the meaning of the song.Read the lyrics together.Then play the song for them to listen to.Then get them to learn to sing.(设计意图:通过歌曲,进一步升华情感教育的主题,并享受英语带来的快乐,另外让他们感受到学习英语可以通过多种方式进行)Step 11 Homework 1.Read the story aloud for several times until you can read very fluently.2.Write a story that happened(发生)in your life.(设计意图:能模仿范文写作,达到检查输出的目的,通过大声朗读,增强语感)

课后反思:

这节课以礼物(a gift)为主线展开教学活动。通过与学生的聊天(Free Talk)做好情感基调的铺设,由此引出教学内容,通过设疑,让学生有阅读文章的欲望,引发学生的期待。通过问题,阅读教学的过程层层推进,以歌曲结束,收课时让学生感到意犹未尽,在听说读唱中探寻最优教学行为。该堂课可以看到老师在变化中优化自己的教学行为。其实课上得很简单,但又不那么简单。可以感受到英语课的课韵和乐趣。这节课中渗透了老师的教学思想,让学生感受语言的美,以及英语作为语言的载体功能。另外这节课还有很浓的情感教育在里面。文章选材很好。但因为对学生的估计不足,因此课堂气氛不是很好,有部分学生没有很好地参与到课堂中来。
