The News of the World was in the busine of holding others to account.It failed when it came to itself.We are sorry for serious wrongdoing that occurred.We are deeply sorry for the hurt suffered by the individuals affected.We regret not acting faster to sort things out.I realise that simply apologising is not enough.Our busine was founded on the idea that a free and open pre should be positive force in society.We need to live up to this.In the coming days, as we take future concrete steps to resolve these iues and make amends for the damage they have caused, you will hear more from us.Sincerely,Rupert Murdoch

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know.Unfortunately, that day has come.I hereby resign as CEO of Apple.I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.As far as my succeor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succeion plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it.And I look forward to watching and contributing to its succe in a new role.I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.Steve
