Friendship Pa Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Friendship Pa, the No.2 pa in the world.Majestically standing by the borderline between China and Vietnam, the Friendship Pa is a border pa of Category-1 Port of the People’s Republic of China.17 kilometers southwest of Pingxiang, it has become a hot tourist attraction for the tourists to enjoy the gorgeous natural landscape as well as to experience the frontier exotic taste of folkways.It was listed a National AAAA Tourist Attraction in 2006.The pa used to be called Zhennan(South Pacification)Pa, and was one of the nine important paes in ancient China.It was where the army of the Qing Dynasty won a great victory in the Sino-French War, and where Dr.Sun Yat-sen led an uprising against the Qing government.In March 1885, the French army launched an attack on China from Vietnam at the South Pacification Pa, General Feng Zicai, a native of Guangxi and commander of the Qing army, routed the French army in a bloody battle.Abandoning their weapons and gear, the French fled helter-skelter out of the pa;evidence of the battle can still be seen today.To show friendship and good neighborline, the name of the pa was changed into South Befriending Pa and then into Friendship Pa.The existing building of the pa was renovated in 1957.It is a 4-storied building, 22 meters in height and occupying around 180 square meters.The ground level is made of stone with a 10-meter-high arched paage in the middle;the second level is used as an exhibition room to display the relics and pictures of significantly historical importance;the third level functions as meeting rooms, and the top level is the place where the National Badge is hung and the National Flag stands.This pa has witneed the long history of ups and downs of Chinese nation.During the Anti-French War and the Anti-Japanese War, five times it was occupied and two times it was burned down, It saw three great events in the modern Chinese history: the Zhennanguan Triumph of defeating French in March 1885;the Zhennanguan Uprising in December 1907;and the planting of the five-star red flag by soldiers of People’s Liberation Army on the top of the pa on December 11,1949, making the liberation of the entire territory of Guangxi-this day is designated as the Celebration Day of Guangxi ever since.We love peace.We Chinese do not want battles again.Let’s pray for peace for Chinese, Vietnamese, French and the people all over the world.Hope that the Friendship Pa will witne friendship only, from now on, and forever.Now my introduction is over.Thank you!
